meh, still around 12 hours left until it goes live on EU shards.

Nice patch tho. Can't wait for the PA system.

Nothing like a bout of insomnia to read this news and start the downloading :)

I am looking forward to it to. The new planar attument sounds awsome, I just wonder how they are going to balance it out, its hard enough balancing 4 clases and all thier sub specs already. Look foward to seeing how they go about this though.

Good work Trion you continue to impress.

@Deadalon

Yes, addons are officially being implemented as "beta" into the live game.

Personally i really don't understand why anyone needs any, but that's just me. (Ok, granted, an "altoholic" type addon would be nice)

@Floop the Squirrel Agreed. I don't see the use of most addons other than making certain actions easy for the lazy.

@Floop the Squirrel

I like to use sound instead of visual warnings and reminders. Also the icon system is pretty bad overall and doesn't allow much breakup or movements of specific buffs and debuffs. Current game does not support these two in any way. Hopefully we see few addons that will improve on this.

Im afraid tho that most of the ppl that would be creating the addons have left the game already because they were not supported at start.

It has nothing to do with lazy. It has to do with changing the feel of the game from staring at icons all the time. Some souls - specially healers are having to do that all the time. MMos have moved on abit and now offer better features - including sound warnings and indications that give healers more time to enjoy the content instead of watching tiny icons.

@Deadalon I hate that "lazy" excuse anyway. We all know that there are things about every UI that can be better. That doesn't necessarily mean adding all sorts of calculators and things screaming out at you... but it can mean something like having an improve way to access your mounts or a better display for your debuffs, etc.

I wish they'd do something to address the misuse of macros in combat by disabling the reference of more than 1 spell/ability in a single macro. Took some of the fun out of it for me knowing I was the only one in my group actually playing the game.

All in all though, this is the first time in many years an MMO dev team has impressed me. I hope they continue to see success and are rewarded for their efforts; It's about time one of these teams started exerting some!

Just logged in and completed the attunement ceremony. Honestly I didn't think it would be that good and it really brought a big smile to my face. Anyone who is going to be unsubbed next week should check it out if you have a 50 as it is very well done. Not trying to sell the game- if it's not your thing that's fine- but it's worth seeing. Can't wait to try out a chronicle instance when I have time later. The veteran armor also looks great.

@chum
the veteran armor doesnt look that great. its bascially the same armor youve been looking at on all the NPC guards for six months.. not really original.

If you are going to do a Chronicle, you cannot solo it unless youare in T2 already. Anyone going in there with T1 and think they are soloing are crazy. T2 can solo no problem depending on class and T3 can solo np.

The catch is that if you can solo it, you dont need the green and blues that drop in there so its like.. whats it for then?

I didnt see the event drop (wasnt looking for it yet) but i read it won't be included for a few weeks after this.

The AA looks like but I don't like the first skill being open up a rift; kind of a waste imo. But the 200 free points you get for the easy Attune cancels that cost so it's basicall a wash

Overall, I dont think 1.5 is enough to get me to resub. Its improvement in some areas but it's still kind of the same. Im not really interested in Master dungeons so thats the other thing this brings

Two sides to every argument I suppose. Just sharing since I was impressed and I've been playing these games a long time. Take it or leave it.

@real65rcncom you seem to know an awful lot about the details of a game you don't play...

Just wanted to let you know that T1's can run the chronicles solo. Just ran HK successfully as a pretty new 50 mage with good crafted gear but only +60 focus. You just have to take your time and be smart. I'll try the other tomorrow. Not saying I'm amazing, just saying you're wrong.

I'm SO impressed with this update so far, the veteren armor looks SWEET! And I know it's the faction guard armor, BUT it's improved and varied from that somewhat. More grand! And it's something the players have been REQUESTING for a long time, so Kudo's to Trion! Also, if you didn't READ what Trion said about it, the veteren shop will be updated periodically with new exclusive cosmetic gear.

with them adding stuff like the planar attunement and a new continent next patch, it's going to be interesting to see what they do for the first expansion.

Rift is, of course arguably, the best Western MMO on the market. It really is quite fun for many different playstyles, with a dev team committed to keeping the content coming. Kudos, Tion.
