Foo Fighters are sell outs and their music has sucked for years.

Kurt is rolling over in his grave...

Again, why does Kurt care about this? What is wrong with a band performing their music?

Kurt hated the mainstream corporate machine, without Nirvana Grohl would probable be stocking a grocery market shelf at night.

Kurt also hated the mainstream corporate consumer machine, while Grohl eats it up.

Ahahaha. Dave Grohl is one of the hardest-working and ridiculously skilled multi-instrumentalists in music today. I'm pretty sure he would have had a fair degree of success even without being in Nirvana, especially since no one gave a crap about him personally until the first Foo Fighters album. Before then he was just the kid playing drums way in the back of the Kurt Cobain show.

Also, I hardly think Kurt would care. He hated the media circus being so focused on him, but he still loved to perform and let people hear his music.

Besides, playing a huge videogame convention isn't even close to selling out as much as doing MTV Unplugged. /trollface

Wow you people are dumb.

Blizzard probably makes more money in two months with WoW then most Hollywood blockbusters make in the theaters.

Bands get deals to do music and trailers etc. for movies all the time, and suddenly doing something for video games makes them sell outs?

Take off the tin foil hat people, video games are the largest entertainment business right now, of course big-name bands are going to want to get in on it.

Besides how many people attend Blizzcon, 10,000? That's a pretty damn good size show for any band to play for.

Yes, hipster, only REAL band never sell albums and only play in their garage for their REAL fans and never get record deals!

What's your favorite band? Oh yeah, that's right, I've never heard of them...

I am in fact a musician and in fact I don't listen to music with words in the first place (generally speaking) so figure that out smarty pants hipster.

I'm also not a complete and total tool like some people *cough* and I am intelligent enough *much more so then some COUGH* to understand that 99.999999% of smart people understand that it is COOL and FUN when a big popular band plays an awesome show at a cool event that has to do with video games...

The fact that you would call strangers "dumb" and use a cliche like the term "hipster" in a derogatory manner.

Plenty of groups produce albums, tour and are generally successful without selling out to corporate.

Your whole point of view is based on subjective ideas rather than hard experience.

Yes I use hipster in a derogatory manner, hipsters are (somehow) both ignorant and pathetic while thinking they are not, it's amazing.

How has the Foo "sold out to corporate" by playing at Blizzcon?

Did Ozzy? Tenacious D? Seriously?

Hard experience with what? Subjective ideas about what?

Again, your arguments went hold a lot more weight if they made any sense.

And you said "You call folks dumb...."

all you are missing was an "and" before it and you did the same, saying you're going to "talk really slow" etc. good thing that post was removed.

Hypocrisy doesn't sell your intelligence friend. In fact quite the opposite.

In the end this whole thread is just as pathetic as the entire sub-genre of music haters who complain about "the man" while having no appreciation for real music in the first place.

I once heard a hipster say that Radiohead was the pinnacle of musical genius and quality and anti-corporate musical bliss.

I nearly shit myself laughing.

Whoa. Whoa. I was with you until the implied insult to Radiohead. I hope you were actually referring to the anti-corporate part. I mean, I dunno if I'd praise them quite as highly as this hipster, but they are a pretty intelligent band who aren't afraid to do what they want, which is cool.

But yeah, they were with EMI from their first release until just a few years ago. *cough*

@(Unverified) So you expect bands to stick to their arenas and stay out of gaming conventions, even though at the gaming convention they are performing music exactly like they would at a concert?

There's probably much worse things that bands could do than perform music at gaming conventions.

Wow, how is the Foo Fighters playing Blizzcon an ethical issue? They're a band; they play shows.

And what does this have to do with Kurt? Him and Dave were in a band 20 years ago... it's not like Dave is trying to get "Nirvana Minus Kurt" to perform.

The Fighters FOO! I liked their older stuff better, too bad they couldn't get BUSH I thought they were a better band.

@Ren54

1st issue, how do you know the Foo Fighters are getting any money for this? Maybe he likes Blizzard. Were you in on the negotiations?

2nd issue, if they are going to play for the money, wouldn't you do the same thing? If you had a band would you turn down money for doing what bands do, which is perform?

3rd issue, Kurt has nothing to do with Foo Fighters. Sure Dave was in Nirvana, but that was 20 years ago now.

Lastly, he probably would play your nieces birthday party for the right price. How many bands to you know do that? Example...Dave did perform Everlong for a wedding.

Commercial musicians playing in a commercial setting. Oh the humanity!

I have a feeling that all this accusations of "selling out" and whatnot is purely because they're playing at a Blizzard event, rather than anything else.

That said, no Lady Gaga? Oh Blizzard, I am disappoint.

tbh i'd rather they spent the money on making content as opposed to letting metzen fulfil his fantasies of hanging out with (aging, like himself) rock stars
