It's a shame we can only play on the monster side in PvMP. I was pretty much only sticking around to try out my Burg in PvP.

@Plastic

I just wonder how it will effect balance with TONS of creeps and the same amount of freeps.

Unless this patch will make freeps unkillable to 1-3 creeps (which would be equally game breaking)

When it comes to PvMP I think you've got to consider the fact that a lot of F2P players are complete noobs. Now, don't go flying off the handle quite yet, I'm not saying all of them are, or even most of them are. Niether does being subscribed insure that you're not a noob. BUT, a lot of people who haven't spent any money on the game haven't made as much effort to do basic research and know what they are doing. They're playing a RKer and have a bunch of might because on their guardian that increases their damage. Stupid things like that. So I expect that with this change you'll get a lot more creeps charging into combat without a damn clue as to what they are doing. They'll go around getting owned for a while and then say "PvMP sucks! I'm going back to my hunter!" So I think that F2P players will probably do about as much harm as good and in the long run it'll even out.

It will be like it was at the beginning of lotro, hordes of creeps that are low level vs some decent geared freeps. Freeps will win until folks in creeps parties start listening to those with experience, then it might end up like zurg style fights with creeps having inferior characters but superior numbers.

Some will try it and hate it, but I think the moors are going to be very chaotic for the next few weeks.

On a side note, I am excited about all the new changes to the classes and might even roll a new champion just to get a feel for what they get from the start.

I'm looking forward to the chaos. Actually, I'm just looking forward to regular pitched battles with F2P cannon fodder. :D

@ScottishViking I'm looking forward to the damn thing patching up so I can log in after idly trying for nearly 7 hours.

Your hope for new meat is short lived, they have to pay for the good classes and these endless trial folks are not going to hang around, as before it will be the same folks flip flopping. I too want some tender nublets but with the restrictions it is going to go downhill fast.

Most likely F2P Freep play will eventually be available through the store.

Too funny, devs stated endless trial players would never have access to the ettens because the ettens were a "key" relax reward for subscribed players. Now we see the endless trial folks getting in....wonder why. Laugh.

oh, the endless trial players are pretty much hamstrung in the ettens too btw with restrictions.

Also for any wondering, still no love for the lore or monster players, if your a freep the patch looks very good, pure monster player (like me), there is nothing and it isnt worth the time. *sigh*

@Graill440 That's not what they said. They had been planning all along to let freemium players access the Ettenmoors. They just didn't know when yet.

@Graill440

Well you're getting Lotro store for monster players in ettenmoors right? ;p

Aren't you happy? With all those buy-skills instead of get them through gameplay and other advantage items?

Endless trial is another game. You an old moorser flip flopping between games and getting confused? That and the never said never just that is was not releasing with F2P.

No, its not. Endless trial is f2p, do not let dev hype and spin fool you. My reference to the game was the developper orion making the statement about what the ettens were for on day one. Most people wont remember what that dev said but with some time they can look it up themselves, i wont do the work for you, and it is still there.

Do not think endless trial and f2p are different, they arent. The intent is the same, the restrictions are also the same, you also have the same options to upgrade or buy things to become a "vip".

I understood your analogy on the game thing but it was incorrect. On that note I also detest flippers (Grin), i have a level 11 burg only because of the exp adjustment they had a few years ago, otherwise he is parked, i play monsterside only on a fairly dead server, i know the names of both sides and their freep/creep alts, its kinda funny, and boring at the same time.

But i still have fun as i get beat down by the new level 75 players that are simply running around looking for the creeps that just arent there. I only saw 6 new reavers over the last week, i am sure brandywine has more but our server again is pretty dead.

For some reason these devs just dont get it. There is a huge dedicated monster only community they simply will not support, thats where new customers come in, not from the crap they keep doing. They seriously need a dev change as the current set are stale and singleminded as hell.

@smartstep

I have 10500 T points, unspent, and no i havent bought a single item for my warg, i am with you on your sarcastic statement, earn them. I have no intention of spending them either, i simply do not play enough to justify the intent of the store, which is pay to win for the freeps. Creepside the skills are not powerful at all even the selected rank 14 ones, the devs chose the weakest sets to place in the store for creeps if you have checked. If you have been on the creepside you will find the freeps hitting for far far more damage than a creep can, except for a very high rank reaver, and we have none of those on our server.

I used to be able to take any burg or archer, not anymore, even with 12k hp on my warg (and i dont suck) i still end up dying with their new damage output. the vision of the devs is to force masses of creeps at the freeps to try and win, this just isnt feasable on many servers.

Still fun to try though i will admit that.

I am looking forward to the 10 levels and new crafting tier. I have been 60+ for so long the little extra grind is fine with me just to get away from that range of levels :p

I am also looking forward to see which old names pop up from nowhere for the expansion.

Gotta love and hate release day of a new expansion or for that matter a new release of a new mmorpg. Not being able to get in or queue lines that last for hours.

Idiot that I was, I thought I was having the same failure to connect issue that I had last year. The way I fixed it was by uninstalling the FE and reinstalling it once I spent hours down loading the high texture version.

I should just kept trying so that I'd only be down loading the main patch instead of all the patches again. Ugh. Of course I need to connect first. This is why I didn't join LotRO in the first month when it first went live and waited a month back in 2007. I've yet to see new game go live without a lot of issues or a new expansion for that matter.

I honestly thought the Isengard expansion was due out tomorrow as a side note which is why I thought due to patches the FE was screwing up like it did for me last year and why I went the route I did of uninstalling, downloading and reinstalling. Ah well.

Next time I wait a few days to see what happens, at least my son won't have to go through the same crap since I"ll warn him once he gets home.

They've done good work with this release. Too bad it took forever. Changes to Minstrels are nice. I imagine other class changes are just as well thought out.

Although I imagine many vets have not been happy campers with LOTRO - given the longevity of any significant changes - credit ought to be given where credit is due. So kudos to LOTRO team and devs for a strong release.

I pre-ordered this and I really wish they had included some more low level content. I would have been happy with 1 new skirmish or possibly a new low/mid level area to explore. It really sucks buying an expansion pack and then logging in and having absolutely nothing new available to you in the game.

Also noticing that they've still not fixed a constant stuttering performance issue that I and tons of other players have been dealing with for a very long time.

I'm glad this expansion was released and we have more to look forward to but it is starting to feel like Turbine needs to reallocate more resources to the development and maintenance of this game. Considering it's the 2nd biggest MMO on the market and undoubtedly makes a fortune from subscriptions/cash shop purchases, it's kind of silly to see a big featured expansion pack being released with such little content. 90% of the 'content' in this expansion are minor bug fixes/small changes that probably took a developer 15 minutes to code. And the new LOTRO store is basically the exact same interface as before with a different color scheme and a few new buttons that still gives you "404 not found" type errors when you try to buy items that are not available to you as a subscriber. I hate to nag but I really love this game and I'm sure the developers work hard - but this game feels like I'm trying to cash a cheque at a bank teller. A multi billion dollar organization and I've got to wait in line for 30 minutes because they can't afford to pay an extra teller 15 bucks an hour to work at their 5 vacant teller booths.
