Chances are you haven't really fantasized about kicking back in your captain's quarters and watching a movie or three. After all, EVE Online is about blowing people up -- or preferably, scamming them and then blowing them up, amirite? Similarly, hanging out in the game's Incarna interiors is for imaginative carebears and inept internet spaceship pilots, according to some.
Nevertheless, CCP has released a new dev blog detailing how you can go about customizing the infinite video loop that currently runs on your CQ's widescreen television. It involves converting your videos to the .BIK format and sticking them into the appropriate folder, and CCP Optimal outlines the technical details at the official EVE Online website.

I would actually consider coming back just to try that. Guess I'm one hardcore carebear, heh.

Nice touch! I remember doing that in Sims 2 (he said, instantly marking himself out as an inept care bear). :D

Hmmm... first thing that comes to mind when looking at that picture is "Yo Dawg I heard you liked MMO's so I...", yup all that CCP needs to do is integrate OnLive into EvE. ^^
Still it's a nice little add-on and it could be interested if it ennobles into streaming media say for example watching the Alliance Tournaments while you craft, work on your planets, play the stocks, etc...
However I see this opening up another whine thread about how CCP is wasting resources, etc. :\

from the dev blog is this funny quote -
"Of course, knowing our players, we are of course absolutely certain than none of you would ever, ever think of putting anything even remotely questionable on your screen, given the total lack of constraints and the rock solid moral high ground on which our pilots firmly stand... That said, in a case of your cat accidentally downloading, converting and displaying some morally hazardous material on your screen, you’ll have to take it up with it rather than us, okay?"
There is going to be a lot of guilty cats out there.....

CCP devs sure have their finger on the pulse of their userbase, don't they?

@Paradigm68 Are you being sarcastic or not? I can't tell. Because in this instance they absolutely do - there have been videos of people doing this on their own popping up on youtube for weeks now. People were a little leery of doing it because it might violate the EULA, but now CCP has completely greenlit it.
TLDR: You're correct.

Technically this was a player discovered hack from about a month ago... no CCP Dev resources were used. Other than maybe some schmuck asking his boss if they wanted to kebosh it, or make it legit.

If they can make it possible to play DUST from the captain's cabin, they'll really have something.

Nice to see they're not being anal about one of the few awesome features of the expansion.
Should really put clear skies on there some day...Best place to watch it imo
