@Oyjord

Not yet. If you were ever a sub they are reactivating most accounts though until it becomes free if I'm not mistaken.

@Ashane I've heard that, but the system doesn't seem to be exactly working yet. The account page says it's free (for me) currently, yet the game itself says you need to be a current subscriber (v.i.p) to be let into the free "head start". At least that's what it says for me.... Maybe before it goes ftp in a few days it'll open, who knows....

@Saker It's a rolling reactivation, so keep trying once per day to see when you get in.

@Saker

Yeah its odd. My wife's account plays fine, yet mine dosent.

My only guess is they havent "flipped the switch" for all accounts yet, so some are simply not fully activated yet.

*insert fully operational calmari here*

I qualify as inactive for 90 days, so if someone would like to refer me, it's entirely possible we might get the free points.
Shoop me your email and I'll be in touch.

Ohhhh myyyy god. Howwwwww is this the exact same game it was SIX years ago? It looks the same, it plays the same, and it has six years of development dust on it. Games are better than this now.

I am completely confounded.

On a whim I went and reinstalled this as it showed my account free. Nice to see they redid their launcher and d/l of it since I last looked at it. Just had a good laugh as all my toons showed last login 1930 days ago, as I think I last looked at it back in 06, this was after I cancelled 6months after launch. Just wish they updated the character screen to show that stats or builds of the characters as I no longer remember what was what, so to pick 2 to reactivate just to see the game became a game of chance. Just a simple what type of melee/ranged powers and travel skill recap on a bio tab would be nice now. Oh well still looks the same from what I remembered of the game anyways.

@Amusednow

Honestly, if it's been that long since you played it probably would have been easier to start a completely new character.

They've changed a lot of things over the years, but for the most part yea, CoH is still basically the same game.

So does the free account allow you to change the keybinds and get rid of the inverted mouse yet? I finally got around to demo'ing the game for the first time this past summer, and these were considered 'premium' features at the time. Needless to say, I uninstalled after all of ten minutes of gameplay. I could adapt to the keys, but not being able to change the mouse was a deal breaker.

@(Unverified) Was there a restriction on that?

Either way, they changed the default for the mouse with Issue 21, so even if you would not be able to change it you would have the correct one anyway now.

Um, you've been able to change the default keybinds since the game was released, and I'm not sure how long you've been able to invert the mouse (since I'm ok with the default) but I want to say that one's been in the game for a couple years at least.

You can change all those settings in the options menu. The mouse controls are under the tab labeled 'Controls' and the keybinds are under the tab labled 'Keymapping'.
