I don't play Rift, but their aggressive update schedule seems like they work hard for you sub money. (unlike, say, WoW)

they work hard certainly, but the content they put in is usually world events and things that you can do very easily and with just a few people. Once you've done their released content in two weeks, then you sit around waiting another month for the next content which is just as easy.

they've released lots of dungeons but they start out very buggy and broken, and then Trion later fixes some bugs and nerfs the bosses like they did with king molinar recently.

if youre not getting this, youre getting world event quests that literally take one minute (no lie) to finish and then your given more rwards for that than if you were closing rifts or stopping invasions.

fast releasing content if fine; buggy easy content is something different. they could possibly turn it around but many people just dont like the dungeon direction and little world meaning for rifts like the game focused at launch.

@real65rcncom personally, I would rather get more, smaller updates every month or so than 1 mediocre raid every 8-12 months that I may or may not even bother to see.

The buggyness is not that much worse given the scope of the game. Considering each class has trillions of soul point combinations, and add in the low number of PTR testers, ya, some things will slip through. But I am rather impressed with how fast they jump on bugs.

As someone who works making games, their QOS is better than most.... not the best, but above median for sure.

@Lucidus Look at WoW's release schedule when WoW first came out and you'' notice it was the same way. Game developers always have a lot of things half done at release making their first year quite full of content. If they keep this up next year then you'll have a point.

Funny the dev quated figures about content difficulty don't match your whole content is to easy argument. They stated that from the info they gather in experts and raids content is hard enough for most people. So I think ill stick with believing the devs figures over some forum trolls claims of everything being to easy.

I do aggree with you about the bugs though, perhaps they need to slow content delivery down and fix more of the bugs before release. Seems strange to be complaining about to much content to quick but oh well.

Tell me when this game isn't dieing and they actually have the sense to put in a new bracket for R1-4 and R5-8. It will never happen...they dont have enough of a player base to to it. While there at it. Could they give us some meaningful pvp? This is a themepark so I can't ask for anything as deep as Shadowbane DAOC or UO...but really? Warfronts aren't cutting it. PVP rifts are not really pvp rifts since half the time the other side doesn't show up.

How's about fixing valor? What you don't think its broke? When you get rid of every physical damage build because Valor is reducing physical damage by 50-70% and not touching magic damage...yes you have a problem. Your wrecking rogues and warriors in PVP because they can only roll Riftblade or Sin, for nonphysicals.....

Yeah, Rift really needs separate brackets for 1-4 / 5 - 8 pvp. The difference gear makes is amazing.

The game is dieing? The game has over a million players.

Confirmation bias sucks doesn't it?

Obviously you aren't lvl 50. Obviously you mistook active subscribers with accounts. Wait for an actual financial report. Why are they still closing servers down then?

@(Unverified) The gear does make a massive difference to the point that War Fronts are broken. They took one step forward by matching the Valor on all the rank gear, but then took two backwards with the addition of vengeance. R8s two and three shot ranks 1-4 with ease, and most of the rank 8s did not have to go through this to get their ranks as they were in before ranks 7 and 8 came along and basically leveled into it easily.

Yes, they had a prestige grind, but they didn't have the disparity that exists now.

No, I don't want free gear. What I want is a PvP environment that relies less on gear grinding and more on skill. There are still unique ways that the ranks can be recognized and rewarded.

Tonight was the last straw for me. I cancelled my account.

Sadly, after playing on the test server, by myself, and being unable to get past the first group of mobs in the Chronicles dungeons, this next patch isn't enough to keep me subbed. While it's a good idea, I was hoping they would be soloable, but they are made for 2 players or more.

What would make me sub is housing, new zones to explore and maybe some mini games that don't frustrate me. The planar attunement is OK, for some reason though it just seem like a "nice" thing to have since it just gives you somewhere to put all that xp you were getting at cap anyway. It doesn't really pave a new way of gameplay. Still, not horrible but not great and again, I'll wait a few more patches before I delve back into Rift.

The article says that one of the Chronicles encounters is meant to be entry-level, while the other two are meant for either duos or well-geared soloers.

I completely understand your point of view; I almost didn't resub because I didn't feel like there would be anything for me to do, since I have limited time for group content.

It doesn't seem rifts and invasions offer the level-capped player anything other than achievements. I don't remember there being any level 50 gear available in exchange for planarite and shards.

I actually am looking forward to 1.5, though. Perhaps this planar attunement feature will be enough to get me out hunting again...

Man what the HECK is up with the RIFT haters on this website.

I've been a part of the game since 1.3 and they release updates FAR faster than WoW or any other MMO. They offer one of the best class systems in the game, and if you stop and pay attention, the lore isn't half bad either.

How is any MMO going to succeed when people stop and say "eh, it isn't WoW, so I'm leaving"

Ain't that the truth...

I've been enjoying the game a lot since I came back to it, largely due to being in a great guild with other people who love the game. Heck, even what they've done in the couple months I was MIA is enough to keep me here.

You know, for a second there I thought you weren't trolling.

But then...

"They offer one of the best class systems in the game, and if you stop and pay attention, the lore isn't half bad either."

And you gave yourself away.

I'm not trolling.

I have an active account, and I play atm 3 level 30's.

Do you know the definition of a troll? It's one that doesn't contribute anything to a discussion or tries to de-rail it.

Go look at ANY RIFT oriented post and you will see hoardes of people hating. I'm merely asking why.

The game does offer one of the best class systems and the lore is quite fun.

My apologies if this double posts

That being said, your definition of a troll needs some work.

It has one of the best class systems in any MMO and the lore is pretty interesting.

My opinion of the RIFT haters is accurate, especially if you take a look at pretty much ANY Massively article on this website.
