Continue to be cautiously optimistic. They don't appear to be in any mad-hurry, that's a good sign to me! Taking the time to try and do it right.

The biggest problem I have is with the single server. In the past we've seen CCP employee's exploiting their position to give advanatages to their guild. Normally that wouldn't be a major issue because it wouldn't do anything to players on other servers. CCP is probably the company I trust least for having a single server. I'd be fine with a low number of servers.. say 2-5 but I no longer feel comfortable playing along with CCP.

Seeing that pic makes me want to re-install Vampire - Bloodlines.

STILL in pre-production? How long have CCP held that licence?

@Shardie

It's not even a license anymore - CCP bought White Wolf outright ages ago.

2006 to be exact. They've been sitting on this game since then, leaking spoilers that there making a White Wolf MMO every so often. You'd think they'd be a bit beyond "pre-production" by now after nearly 5 years

Right, I'm not sure if this has been stated already, but I NEED an answer on, as this could be a dealbreaker for me; will the Vampire side of things be using Masquerade or Requiem rules? Because fuck Requiem.

Good point, I didn't even think of that.

From what we were told last year-ish, it's based on Masquerade.

And yeah, screw Requiem.

@Irem Oh, thank God. I mean, I still would have played a Werewolf, but I cut my PnP teeth on Masquerade, so using Requiem would have been devastating for me, both from a player AND fluff perspective.

@Irem

As far as I'm aware it's mostly Masquerade inspired, with high probability of elements lifted from Requiem where they'll improve the experience. Take that as you will.

Vampires are supposed to be rare, secretive, and special. I currently can't imagine a single-server architecture not conflicting with that, and adding to the cash shop as another reason for skepticism about the actual integrity of this title.

@Silverangel You can play a mortal all the way through so Vampires won't be a necessary avatar roll. Doesn't mean vamp's won't be met down dark alleys or otherwise though. ;)

Single 'world' server architecture, multiple cities. Might work out okay.

@(Unverified) I would hope that CCP plans to add more of the WoD lines into their MMO in the future. The possibilities are endless.

I'm very surprised at the single-server architecture. It definitely works well in EvE but in a ground based game such as this I imagine it would be extremely difficult and need a massive amount of human resources. Sure there other MMOs that do it but I expect WoDo to attract many more people. Judging from the info always, I think this looks like the most immersive game yet.

@paterah

They say it's a single world server with multiple cities that are basically identical but differentiated by the effects of player action. I'm pretty sure by that they mean each city is its own server, but you can travel between them fairly freely, much like the way each star system in EVE is effectively its own instance apart from the others, with the jumpgates as instance portals.
