@Wispur

I know right?

How dare they inject roleplaying into my progression-based stat-grinding genre!!!111!

@Jef Reahard

If only I liked vampires as a role-play option! Serously, I've tried the pencil-and-paper game, but I stopped liking vampires as a concept years ago -- long before Twilight reared its sparkly head.

For me, it's like CCP announced a truly intriguing, professionally-made MMORPG centered on ... broccoli. More power to those who like such things, but I'm not their audience, alas.

Look out Funcom, CCP just upped the ante. Going to push out full nudity and more adult content to compete? Club Penguin or Wizard 101 this isn't. But if in theory only adults can play then the WoWarcraft trade channel chat will not be missed if the maturity of conversation will increase as well.

"Incarna is actually considered a prototype, the rendering engine that will ship with the MMO will be much more advanced."

I knew it! I had a feeling that was why Eve suddenly had walking in stations.

"ONLY kindred on release of game, no were's, mages, etc."

Bah, they only kept the emo part of WoD...

@Sephirah Small steps, and besides, it's CCP, when they get around to adding them, you're not likely to have to pay for them, either.

I guess you haven't followed the news lately. CCP is all about microtransactions and greed now.

@Sephirah Putting any two of them together at once is stupid, if you ask me. Any WoD game stands best on its own.

@Sephirah they have to start somewhere. The Vampire mythos being the first WoD book it is only natural to start there.

"might experience "final death" -- permadeath -- if they take too many risks"

I wonder what kind of system they have in mind for permadeath. What's does "too many risks" mean?

Not keen paying good money for a game that takes away all the time and effort in developing a character. Might as well go pay someone to beat me up.

@Jade Effect

The actual posts suggest that permadeath won't be a common thing, at least for vampires - for the most part vampire characters will go into "torpor" as the in-game explanation for why they don't just up and die when your HP runs out.

I would hope that permadeath is what happens when you breach Masquerade too many times; the Prince has you put down before the city has a Hunters going door to door. That was how it worked in Bloodlines, anyhow, and it would do a lot to keep the spazzes off of the server.

I'm quite interested to know how the Permadeath might work. it's both an intimidating and compelling idea. My guess is, that you're immortal until some point where where you have degraded a sort of shield mechanic over time, so you'll have to make the choice, if you're willing to risk it. and that only the retreat option can restore the "shield" option. and i doubt it's all something that can happen in a flash. imagine an outrage? :D
Hell whatever they do, I'm gain as long as the Nosferatu is playable :D

I hope CCP can deliver on this title. I'm a fan of the franchise, but not a fan of the direction CCP has taken recently.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this game but I'll also be keeping a close eye on CCP's business practices from here on out. As someone who wasn't a regular EVE player to begin with, they lost a lot of goodwill with me over "monoclegate."
