cannot believe they havent gone f2p with this stinker yet....game would have rocked had they left battle grounds out of it and left the pvp in open world....o well...these companies never learn

@blix2006 "these companies"? mythic was behind dark age of camelot and ultima online. id say it has more to do with EA than anything. though i dont play anymore, WAR was a great game. i even loved it on day one when it was "full of bugs". i feel like the community just complains too much nowadays. "i pay $15 a month so i DEMAND everything i want to be implemented immediately!!!111one". the mmorpg community just isnt what it used to be. not hating on WoW but WoW brought aLLLOOOTTTT of new people into the mmorpg community. IMO its all been downhill since

@rotcafnogaw i am the same way i didnt think it was a terrible game...but it was one of the games that was absolutely destroyed by battleground pvp..take my opinion as it is....i feel the same way about wow..the open would pvp with pvp rankings was great....then they added battlegrounds thus destroying there pvp...war had a ton of issues. but i loved the open would pvp when i could find it...sadly everyone just sits in the city and ques up for pvp thus removing any point of having the keeps :\

@rotcafnogaw Mythic was never behind Ultima Online that is an unfortunate result of a corporate merger.

Anyway the best news I have heard in age is that Carrie Gouskos and Paul Barnett has been permanently removed from the WAR development team. Honestly those two should never ever be allowed anywhere near any future project. I think once TOR is launched we will see more attention being paid to WAR it has a basic foundation that can become an actual MMO, but I don't see it remaining a P2P game much longer.

it will go F2P or cancel 3 months after SWTOR goes opens. It would be a bad move to do anything with this title before that as you don't want to influence the big launch :)

and I tend to think that if this title went F2P they would get more player in and get some more funding but until then... it will be lol @ WAR

Interesting perspective, blix. I actually feel the exact opposite way about battlegrounds. Love them or hate them, they have become a staple of MMOs as of late, and their removal/absence would cause more uproar among players than their existence. For people who want a quick fix of pvp, and either don't have the time or inclination to search out open world pvp (and many other reasons), BGs are a great feature.

Instead of removing BGs, I'd prefer that open world pvp/rvr, with sieges and whatnot, be more incentivized and given more meaning.

@Boardwalker yea i know people who do like it...i wish that all these games would at least put 1 server up that does not have battlegrounds...basically alternative pvp rule sets it wouldnt alienate either side of the coin.the only people who would play on this server are nitch players like myself who are opposed to the idea of battlegrounds....sadly Tor wont have any open world pvp at all..just bg worlds..hoping gw2 is decent in the pvp realm they are working on implimenting..

I honestly wish people would stop screaming about Open PvP. People know why Open PvP doesn't work: Numbers. If you're on the biggest team, you're going to win, hands down, no matter what. That's why Battlegrounds were created, to give people an instant-in where numbers weren't a deiding factor: Skill was. Besides, if DAOC is such a great game, why aren't you still playing DAOC?

to be honest i believe only 3 sub mmos will survive guild wars 2 and thats wow,tor and right...the rest may have to be forced to convert to f2p

i wish people would stop saying "this is Mythic, the people who made DAOC, stop talking bad about them." FYI, DAOC devs jumped the WAR ship a long long time ago.

I think like most, I will post a post that sheds a virtual tear of "what might have been" with this game that had such fun and great mechanics, but lost its footing and became rather disenchanting.

And the best part is, I won't even have to buy that virtual tear from the Cash Shop form my virtual in-game character!

This game would thrive if it went F2P. It's not like EA is opposed to the idea, they already do it for some of their IPs.

I also agree that instanced BGs should've stayed out of the game.

Shame they never finished the rest of the capitals.

Somehow MMO websites forget to mention that the Wild Hunt is a every year event that just needs a restart of server... And developers call it patch.

Kinda says it all how lame WAR is atm.

@Deadalon if you read the patch notes you will see the patch is somewhat larger than just the Wild Hunt event.
