A good thing for Conan is that for the forseeable future, no game (not even GW2 it seems) can beat it's graphics. Of course the secret world's will equal it, but nothing else seems to be coming close.

Crafting is THE one area they really have to improve. now that we got rid of the annoying pvp'ers, there should be some ressources channeled into a brand new crafting system!

Well, well!
Crafting really needs to do the next step, make crafting a fun part of the game, a challenging part of the game as much as similar to the scope of adventuring, fighting the game offers.
To me its more than boring to gather ressources over long hours (Why still no slave workforce in AoC? That would be a game itself with potential depth and comercial influence, pve, pvp etc.) and then waste al this stuff in a few minutes of mindless clicky clicky crafting 10 pieces per second nobody needs.
Crafting should offer more, than instant coffee crafting.
SWG was on the right track, crafter skill had some influence on the product as well as quality of ressources, blueprints etc.
Experimenting was a nice minigame and the boring mass production was done by the automated factory (slave workforce in aoc).
To me it would be most appealing to play the job of a prospector, searching for the best materials and have my slaves to dig it out like the harvesters did in SWG.
Hunting for the best fur, leather, looking for the best wood, getting rare material sold by raiders to the market and build a prototype for massproduction in a challenging minigame where the crafter plays a risky game agaisnt the evil god of failure placing my knowledge, blueprints, ressources in a nice tactic or strategic game, or at least like one of this card games with a bunch of cards you must play out right.
The better the product the more risk must be taken to fail.
Handmade, individual tailored equipment can be made that way too.
Get away from the watching bars grow crafting style - make something fun and challenging!

@Thorqemada

The person who designed the "clicky clicky" crafting system who apparently has worked for Blizzard, NCSoft, Trion and Funcom (and probably many others) must be near retirement soon. I really really hope so. Here's hoping for someone with a little bit of creativity when it comes to crafting design.

I'm for anything that broadens the scope and appeal of the game. Deeper crafting system? Bring it on! I know one thing, I'm not into crafting the way it is now, and I've tried it some, a couple of times.

To do it right will be a big deal, as in not simple to implement. A good crafting system will change everything about the game economy. My personal favorite additions to AoC are things like the latest adventure package; more Conan inspired areas to explore, do battle in, and die in. But I would be willing to have that kind of stuff put on the back burner to get a revolutionary crafting system up and running.

The irony is that if you compare AoC's crafting system with the enormously complex and challenging one that Funcom gave Anarchy Online, well...
