Do you play RIFT? Are you familiar with the Ascend-a-Friend promotion? Of course you are; it's not uncommon for MMOs to offer rewards for recruiting new players after all, and RIFT's program's main advantage is that it's lucky enough to have a clever rhyming scheme. But perhaps you're not convinced that you should be worried about the ascension of your friends or lack thereof. Trion Worlds is taking a big step toward rectifying this with its latest commercial.
What's in the commercial? Well, we'd rather not say. But you can trust us when we say that it's a short watch that should prove quite convincing -- not only in displaying the rewards you get for recruiting your friends, but in convincing you of the inherent desirability of these rewards. So jump on past the cut to watch the commercial, and you may very well want to watch it even if you're not currently playing RIFT.
Ugh, i just lost respect for the liscense for the old spice guy. While funny, it was distasteful in that it was for......rifthealbuffhouse. The healing buffing mmo.
This game does not deserve the quality comical vid that was presented, now excuse me, i am going to go throw away all my old spice products.....
@Graill440 yea cause like he was so deserving of respect before? He's a dude on a commercial, relax and just have a laugh. We get it, you don't like RIFT ..me either for that matter, but the commercial was funny.
On a side note, i wouldn't own a ugly- #$$ dog like that in RL, and I sure don't want one in a video game.
That isn't the voice of Old Spice guy. Rather obvious to me at the least, tone isn't nearly deep enough, and I'm still sitting on a chair, not a diamond.
This'll probably be the first and ONLY time I'll ever agree with Ren.
There is as much grind in Rift as there are Nigerians in the KKK. I played it during the 7 day trial, and didnt last more than 3 days, but I can still testify that the word Grind describes Rift as much as "FPS" would describe Diablo 2...
Good try bro, but if hate is what you plan to do, at least do it with some BASIC knowledge.
In the case where you say you only played for three days, I'd question you're qualification to make that judgement. Sure, the game seems new and fast paced when starting out, but hit moonshade highlands at around the level 30+ mark and the lazy quest design really begins to show.
Hit 50 though and the grind starts to become nakedly apparent. Until the recent patch, a tank could be expected to grind a paltry handful of Tier 2 dungeons for hundreds of hours just to get the currency needed to purchase the armour necessary for raiding. The PVP route is only better in that one can happily lose one's way to the best gear, but it's still going to be a time-sink.
In both counts the game is very much like Warcraft and like Warcraft indeed like most MMO's, it has it's grinds. So long as people are happy enough with that, they'll probably enjoy it.
Alright, well, I'd say END-GAME Grind, yes. I can imagine there is one, as in almost every MMO of this style. Thats can almost go without saying. WoW has it, AoC has it, its pretty much a standard.
I would definately retract my statement based on the terms above. However, Im talking about the leveling aspect, which I would pretty much assume, safely I might add, that the grind, while being MINOR, isn't as apparent as real65 seems to make it.
Again, I could be reading it wrong, but Im pretty sure that the leveling aspect of Rift is almost as harmless as Moonlight. Even given my lack of experience on the title.
Either you've been playing a completely different game than I since launch, or you're a terrible troll. I have been level 50 since March 10th, and I log in for 4+ hours almost every single day to play. I haven't run a T2 since the Water Saga quests got released (ran 2 I think) and I haven't PvP'd since Vengeance came out. What have I been doing for the last 9 days, just sitting on my hands in Meridian? Come off it - more than any other game Rift has stuff to do at the level cap besides mindless dungeon grinding. Dailies, crafting, exploring, achievements, artifacts, PvP - every single one of those can be done while you "wait your turn in line" and none of them are horrible grinds, so stop acting like there's nothing to do. I get that some people don't like the game, but quit spouting nonsense.
39 days 16 hours 10 minutes played, and I don't feel like I've done any grind yet.
Yeah, you never specified what kind of Grind there was. So I made the assumption you meant LEVELING Grind, as again, the Endgame "Grind" is almost a standard today.
