Trying so hard not to be suckered into overhype... But GW2 seems to going in a really interesting direction.

So... Asura > Possible Mesmer class...?

Oh god... what if it was an Asuran Mesmer-like class revealed at the end? Would we suffer from a mini-searing of our brains?

@DevilSei "So... Asura > Possible Mesmer class...?"

I'll probably get burned at the stake for this, or worse, downvoted, but... yes. Much, much better. I never particularly cared much for the mesmer class (angry mob of GW fans making their way to my house now) and I wouldn't miss it in GW2, to be perfectly honest (they have pitchforks and torches), so if the last class reveal turns out to not be the mesmer, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it (I can see their eyes now - they're bloodshot). So yes, Asura good, mesmer meh. MEHsmer. (Are those barrels of tar and feathers?)

Finally!! Of all the races in Guild Wars, these are my favorite. Dudes that lived underground who were forced out and use magic powered golems is the coolest thing ever!

Not to mention the two books that came out had two golemancers sacrifice themselves in the manliest fashion! Kranxx's final words still bring chills to how epic he was.

Out of all the Races, I can tell that Jeff Grubb personally put 100% of his heart into making the Asura fully fleshed out and full of spark. I fell for it, and hav finally got what I've been waiting for ever since they've been releasing this info. Last is TRULY not least for me in this scenario.

Well, with the final race coverage handled, all that will be left is the final class reveal. This is a really good sign that the game is getting close to ready for launch. There's only so much left that they can do to build or maintain hype.

@aurickle

It's down to three things left: last profession, guild specifics, and World vs World vs World PvP. Since it seems ArenaNet is right on track with where they want the game we should be seeing beta sometime before 2011 is over (probably the last two months - November/December).

I am glad the Asura fans finally get their time to bask in their lore, but I still can't help but feel a bit annoyed and put off they still haven't announced the last profession.

If it's the class everyone's pretty sure it is (Mesmer), it's probably taking a long time to get to a state where they feel comfortable showing it off.

Indeed, I remember them stating a long while ago that if they were going to bring back the Mesmer, they explicitly stated that the GW1 Mesmer's mechanics weren't entirely possible under GW2's new combat systems, and that they would likely have to rebuild the class.

Last profession has been stated to be the most complex and the one that plays differently than all the other professions. So going off of that they probably had to build the new Mesmer from the ground up incorporating some elements from the original Mesmer of GW1. Yea... that would take them quite a while to do.
