While I agree this sounds a lot like Path of the Titans, the types of bonuses you describe sound more like wow's glyph system..

Still, I really think Cata lost a huge component by removing it and hope its explored in the future (assuming I even buy the next expansion...)

Sounds like an excuse to call end-game. Besides that I can agree with the hopes of what could possibly be done with the rifts in the future...but until they do some of those what-ifs its still a lackluster game that's riding on the recent lulls of Wow.

@Skiim

Do you also think EQ's AA system is an excuse to call end-game?

@Skiim

It's posts like this that really annoy me. Seriously, why the RIFT hate? I recently moved over from WoW and I am loving it for being so different.

I didn't call it a wow clone. I don't think it is either. I just said its benefiting from the decline of WoW subscribers looking for something different. (Exactly like yourself) I think its good enough to hold these subscribers, but I think they need to implement a lot more at the level cap.

Since when does a birthday mean six months? This is at least the second time a massively writer has thrown out birthday prior to an actual year or birthday for a game.

Just say cake or celebrated an anniversary. Why use birthday when it has zero to do with it?

@rhorle

Because that's what Trion called it. Well, half-birthday, but same thing.

While I like that they are implementing this, 2 things bother me. 1, I have to wait till endgame. Ok, so while I'm leveling I think I'll save finishing up quest lines in zones and other achievements for endgame instead of doing them as I level. Thereby, more reason to rush to cap.

2nd, it doesn't offer anything new to do at cap other than what we already do. Running around doing invasions, dungeons, raids, rifts, pvp and crafting. This is where EQ2's system shines and should be used as a springboard. Giving me bonuses to AA from mentoring down and killing nameds, getting location xp, first time doing a quest etc, just lends to better utilization of an AA system and filters high level players back through the lower levels to help lowbies and such.

Other than that, I'm interested to see where this goes and hopefully what I stated above is considered during it's development.

@MMOaddict Technically we don't chase XP at cap, so this is a small extra incentive to play. Allowing it at early levels somehow is a really good idea though for added interest in playing through again, and people who want to slow down their leveling could maybe have a toggle to gain AA instead.

As if the new Chronicle system (1-2 man dungeons) and the sheer amount of raid content put into the game post game launch.... yeah no content there.

Scott is one of the best things that happened to EQ2 and a lot of people were really upset to see him go.

@Ren54 actually it's that's cloned from EQ, to the point you are using the EQ term instead of PA.

ummmmm what are you even talking about? I didn't say its a wow thing to do...what? My point is that they shouldn't have made this available to max level chars, or if so at least give them something NEW to do at 50. Personally I think they did because of a lack of things to do at max level, but the point is this system doesn't hold a candle to EQ2's AA system. It seems cheap and poorly thought out.

As much as i hate to compare such a polished title as rift to a F2P I would like to see more games do it like Runes of magic, once u cap your skills are no where near max and you can keep gaining points - i know its a grind buty at least it adds a reason to keep grinding other then the next level shiny!!

@Ren54 Ya they've released patches. Still doesn't mean there is lots to do at max. Definitely more than when I stopped playing tho.
