@Ren54 I have no idea why you read a site you hate the news on. Why not go read something more your style like Hello Kitty Island Adventure News?

@Ren54 As I'm sure they're will be bad news for Guild Wars 2, Secret World, etc. It just never ends. Let's just cut it short here and say all MMOs suck and get over it. Then maybe for once you can enjoy a game.

@badpenny - that's a pretty apt description of what was happening last night on the SWTOR forums... Literally!
I'd go to reply to a seemingly innocuous thread and before I could type out a few lines and hit submit, the thread would disappear!?! And it kept happening over and over again. It was sorta funny and sad at the same time. So I finally gave up and went to bed.

Guess that "early game access" from the CE doesn't apply to beta.

Oh well, the more I read about this game, the less I feel like playing it. It's probably better that I just steer clear of the beta.

@TxRedcoat No, I think you should go for it. Just remember to write a lot of bug reports.

Yes, you are correct. Early Access does not automatically include Beta. It means that when the game launches, you get to play a week or two before people who didn't pre-order.

A beta is NOT a free pass to play the game, it's MENT to be a forum for players to test the content, hence the TEST part of BETA TEST.

A true beta participant will use the client to report bugs, typo's, animation clipping, sound files not working etc etc and pass that onto the developer to fix those bugs so you can enjoy your early access before the plebs flood the servers.

far too many people will get into a beta, see the unfinished content and then rip on the developer for producing a shitty game.

getting into a beta is way for you to help better the game, not whine cause you can't run around with lightsabers and pew pew some rancors then fly away in your pimped out space ship.

@(Unverified) you know, it's really easy for people to say this over and over again but it doesn't mean it holds much water anymore. Betas are a glorified marketing gimmick at this point, and there are few who even deny it anymore The real testing occurs internally, and the public is left to stress test the server and complain about their dreams being crushed.

Should people be testing? Sure, of course. But to white knight a beta in this day and age is just a little bit like standing on the corner and telling people to repent for the end is nigh.

@(Unverified) Because my short little post implied everything you said. Thanks for the hasty generalizations!

My experience with betas tend to trend towards the following:

1. People like the direction the game is going
2. These people make recommendations for fixes/changes
3. The marketing twerps read the forums, ignoring the changes that are recommended
4. The game launches with the bugs that needed fixing or changing because hype got the better of sales.

But hey, you keep hating on us plebs.

Comprehensive FAQ? Wow...maybe they'll tell us how much the monthly sub will be.

Bet of $15/month. It's industry standard; to assume otherwise would be wishful thinking.

I am now almost 100% sure it will be 15 bucks.

But I don't think I'm allowed to tell you why I believe that... :P
