"Flight sim fans will be happy to know that Gaijin was responsible for 2009's IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey,"

And why would we be happy to know that? WoP was a horrid game. It failed both as a casual game and as a simulation. It tried to be everything to everyone and wound up being nothing at all worthwhile. In the end, it was only useful taking pretty screenshots.

Holy cow, I had the exact same reaction. I was thrilled about IL2:BoP when it was about to come out, but it was buggy, the kills didn't make sense, the multiplayer was nonexistent because of the way it was (or wasn't) set up. And the P51 Mustang, the most popular American plane in the whole war, was calibrated with a brimming full fuel tank so that if you so much as tried to climb 10 degrees your plane would stall. you could NOT fly the thing in combat. I was a part of the community for as long as i could stand it, but the patches never came. We waited months for SIMPLE fixes like; if you shot a guys wing completely off, and he spiraled to the ground 2k feet below you wouldn't get a kill because apparently he had to die within 1.2 seconds of you shooting him. What? The developer blamed the platform, the platform wouldn't respond, etc.

So no, I'm not thrilled that anybody that was a part of IL2:BoP is involved with this.

Same here. Wargaming at least thinks about casual players. Yes this means that we will not have a cockpit view because of them. BUT this also means the game will be full of not so pro people like the World of Tanks is.

And you know what is the biggest advantage of WOT? It is full of NOOBS. And that is why it is really fun to play it!!!!

People do stupid mistakes and it is not hard to dominate if you try some logic here. So every match is always fun and some frags no matter who will win.

And what about Gaijin? I really like their old works but I doubt this project will prevail. With all the realism and this long maps, the time to take off and land and all the hardcore players online… only means to me that EVERY MATCH WILL BE SO LOOOONG AND SO CHALENGED TO THE PAIN IN THE A**...

So where is a fun factor here??? I didn’t get it. Really.

So I do not even want to try it.

Looks good. Though I always thought that a Crimson Skies MMO would be cool, but this'll do.

Will wait for World of Warplanes... Wargaming has done right with World of Tanks and I trust them with their upcoming planes and also the battleships.. World of Tanks is one of the funnest F2P games I have ever played...

I know it's been said before but it bears repeating: having two different games, one called World of Planes and the other called World of Warplanes is a really really really really really bad idea.

Great looking arcade game. trying to call it a sim it falls way short, (zoom?) even that short trailer was very telling. Kids will probably love this though.

That's looking really good for an alpha, I must say.

So the Finnish air force is in there too, interesting. Wonder if they'll include the Swedish volunteer squadron that fought in the Winter War.
