Last week we told you about Sony Online Entertainment's decision to distribute its latest DC Universe Online DLC package for free. Today's the big day for current DCUO customers and Green Lantern fans as the Fight for the Light content is officially ready for prime time.
The new stuff includes the game's seventh power set (light) and the ability to join either the Green Lantern or Sinestro Corps "while helping to restore balance to the universe." If rubbing elbows with famous DC luminaries doesn't do it for you, there's also the new scenario content. Players can partake of various action-heavy excursions into locales like S.T.A.R. Labs, Coast City, and Sciencells Prison. More info is available at the official DCUO website.

Don't worry about missing it.
DCUO is still poorly managed and the new content is takes less than 2 hours to burn through even if you are in a slow group. I'm sure most people that have to actually buy the DLC will regret doing so because it wasn't worth anywhere near 10 bucks on top of the monthly fee.
This is why DCUO and SOE are such a joke. The community was promised monthly updates and so far they have only managed to release 3 of those updates in 8 months. The really sad thing is that most of what has been released was already tested in beta (including parts of the latest DLC) so the game is probably going down in flames instead of improving.
Buying a lifetime subscription to DCUO was the worst gaming purchase I've ever made.

Looks like the forums are on fire with complaints of no DLC, no downtime notice, no communication at all. SOE must really be hurting more than they are letting on. Otherwise, I can't understand how a company can be so so incompetent on every level. I'm really not trying to be a jerk but these guys can't seem to do a damn thing right.

@Faction 3
By on fire...he means like 3 guys posted angry posts because they didn't bother to read posts from forum mods.
For PS3 - DLC will be available when SCEA updates the PSN store.
For PC - DLC will be available when your account is flagged by a script.

I think you read too much into my comment. I was just talking about people freaking out about the DLC. Yah, the game has had issues. Its gotten better. I don't blame just SOE. DC is in the pot also. Games with IP holders such as DC and LA are just bad business partners. Developers should run away from these two people.

Will this be free for new and returning subscribers as well?

@Faryon I don't know, but I won't have any heartburn it isn't free to new or returning subscribers. If it is, great! I like having more people to run with. If it isn't, well, it _is_ the current and lifetime subscribers that are made the existence of the DLC possible in the first place. If SOE feeling that loyalty should be rewarded with free DLC's in addition to normal updates, I am not going to argue.
