Luck is fickle. One moment you seem to be hitting a 20% chance for a critical hit every other swing, the next you're lucky if you can avoid missing. But Allods Online is giving the playerbase a chance to change its collective luck through pure will. Well, pure will and a helpful dose of popularity. The Choose Your Lucky Moment event has begun, offering everyone a shot at something bigger and better next week.
Currently, there's a poll available with a long list of lucky bonuses, such as increased experience gained from quests and better loot from the Astral. The voting runs until Friday, September 9th. Once the votes have all been tallied, the three bonuses with the highest number of votes will be turned on for the next week on both servers, running from September 10th until September 16th. It might not help you with that string of critical hits, but it's the best chance Allods Online players will have to turn their luck around by choice.

Well, just be in for a MAJOR rude awakening, chief. I played back when OB FIRST opened until "the Patch" came around and %$^&ed everything up. Royally. The game was among the best I've ever played until they started dicking around with the basic mechanics.
No raids for Rep quests, meaning you have to grind upwards of 400 mobs by yourself to get decent gear and be geared for the next zone.
MASSIVE increase to normal mob strength. Back before the patch, you could take down 3 or 4 dudes at once, depending on class, I was a summoner, so it was easy. After the patch, I'd be lucky to leave combat with 30% HP and a live pet.
Extraordinary increase to required XP to level. The game was paced perfectly, with the quests, you almost NEVER ran out of quests to do. Ever. Then they decided to %^ around and increase the XP needed to level by alost 30%, but never added any quests in, so you'd run out of quests halfway through a zone, and be required to grind out the rest of the level to unlock more quests. I had a Arisen Summoner named Lowrider, I went from level 35 to 37 in about 5 hours before the patch, AFTER. I went from 37.2 to 37.7 in 4 hours...
Other junk they removed or reworked, like the Gear-Curse feature. But, as amazing as the game looks, theres still major issues that still remain...you'll be in for a hell-of-a trip.
I always said, the potential this game had actually makes me angry. It WAS that good.

Lets also mention too that they pissed off so many people, that even most of the original GMs left due to how much backlash the new patch caused. MissSadie, and _CHOMP_ are gone (At least I think _CHOMP_ is, I havent seen him in AGES), which sucks more.
Now its mostly that pain-in-the-ass Pio-Pico or whatever...

I agree 100% with everything you just said. I also played starting the first day of OB, and really got into it, until they butchered it. Although I will say, that even originally there were too many hit modifiers for melee classes, so they really had the short end of the stick compared to casters who only needed 1 stat to determine a full-damage hit instead of 3.
Regardless of this one difference, everything you said I agree with. I'd definitely never play it again unless they announced that they decided to fix the core mechanics holding the game back, such as broken crowd control in PvP, ridiculous XP gaps for no good reason and a broken stats/gear system.

But see, all that I could've lived with. Easily. I could deal with mismanaged PvP balance, hell I played WoW for almost 5 years, so Im used to MASSIVE class imbalances, the thing that really caned my ass was the removal of Reputation Raids, coupled with the amazingly high mob strength. You'd be stuck spending upwards of 4 hours, ALONE, grinding out Reputation for gear against mobs that could kick your ass off in a heartbeat unless you had some lame-ass incense to make the mobs "Normal" again by boosting your stats up to their level.
And wouldnt you know! The incense was a ITEM MALL PURCHASE at the time...

I guffaw whenever I see someone say " I could deal with mismanaged PvP balance". Then I look at what class he plays. Sure enough, it's an overpowered summoner class.
Heh, why would anyone playing an overpowered class care about pvp imbalance? It's like Bright Wizards saying, "Nope, nothing imbalanced about WAR pvp" during launch.

And I "guffaw" at arses like you who assume someone might of chosen a class because its overpowered, especially in an attempt to discredit their OPINION. Maybe he isn't as "hardcore" about the PvP as you must be, so the occasional flavor-of-the-month OP class/spec won't bother him. I sure as hell don't care too much about class balance as long as the game is fun, and I've played multiple classes in WoW while messing around in PvP.
Besides, it should of been rather obvious to tell he probably wasn't too concerned with PvP to begin with seeing as his major issues are all along the "PvE" spectrum of the game.
Which I agree with. I was playing before the patch came out, and the pace was just fine. Enemies didn't die too fast or too slow, and while it might of taken a little longer to level up than say... WoW, it wasn't a grind to me. After the unannounced buffs to enemies though, the grind factor kicked right up.

It is a great game that they ruined and then tried to repair.
I can't go back because I remember how great it was. Like Faction 3 I am just too bitter over it.
But I bet if you just jump in right now it will still be pretty good.
It's actually a very good MMO.

I keep wanting to like Allods, I really, truly do. I LOVE the art style. The game just looks great. I've tried it in the past and quit for different reasons.
I recently installed the game again and waited until just yesterday to give it another shot. I created a human ranger and began the starting experience. Made it to the part where you jump down and help the gibberling fight the 3 or 4 bad guys, but after killing the first 2 or 3, the gibberling and the evil dude that was left disappeared but remained targetable. I couldn't see them, but tried targeting and attacking the evil baddie, but could not hit him as he was not in my line of sight, and therefore could not progress.
I then logged out and tried doing it again, having to start over since the beginning experience must be finished completely in order to continue on to the rest of the game and progress. If you don't, your progress isn't saved and you start again at level 1 as if you had never played that character (granted the starter area only takes 15 minutes. Still...). Anyway, I make it to that same spot again and what happens? Well, they didn't disappear this time, but they could not be targeted now, so the evil dude could not be attacked and I, once again, could not progress.
I promptly uninstalled. Sadly, and with much disappointment, it appears the universe simply does not want me to play and enjoy this game. Even if I really, truly want to.
If Astrum Nival makes another MMO, and I hope they do, I also hope they can get it right, and I can play it as much as I was hoping to play Allods, if not more.

How is the cash shop in Allods now? Is it still as f'ed up even after they realized their stupid perfume prices were retarded?

They've fixed a lot and i honestly find it a lot of fun again. People complaining about *past* issues need to stop talking. And the grind, sure I understand people not liking it, but quit the game forever because of it? That's just weak lol it's not *that* bad.

@ClassicCrime That's not weak, it's consequential... I played during Closed Beta, loved it, even had a guild set up for it already... Then they decided to squeeze up to 80 € a month out of the "hardcore" player base with their bollocks perfume system... Cash Shops and Microtransactions in general - ok.. I can live with that... But these disgusting cash shop tactics a la perfume that force you to spend a set amount of money every day are nothing short of revolting...
I know that was a while back and tbh I have no idea what their cash shop tactics are like, now but I do not care! To me, Allods is dead and buried and so is the developer team... They frakked up big time and do not deserve a second chance.
