@Ren54

How exactly does a community manager ruin a game?

Not trying to defend him, I'm just wildly curious about your statement...

@Ren54 I'm sad to inform you Tamat hasn't caused any major problems while in Riot so far.

@Ren54

Yeah. What was he thinking going out and enjoying his life? He should have been shackled to his desk moderating the forums and personally and independetly exploring and evaluating all those wonderful (italics) ideas MMO communities constantly come up...

If you're going to constantly bitch, at least bitch about something relevant to a particular game. The personal lives of the studio staff don't apply.

Boo seems you can't post on the new Diablo III forums unless you have an active WoW subscription. Why don't my Diablo / Diablo II / LOD keys qualify me to post on their forum? :-(

@TheClaw It's not a WoW subscription needed, you just need a new battle.net account. WoW and SC2 use the new Battle.net system, Diablo/Diablo2/LOD do not. New one is a unified system, allows for cross-game communication and friends list. You should be able to sign up for one without activating a WoW key or SC2 key.

@(Unverified) I have a new battle.net account - it has my (currently inactive) WoW account attached to it, as well as my Diablo & Diablo II keys. But when I'm logged into battle.net under that account and try to post to the general Diablo III forum, it says: "This account has limited posting access due to the following condition: This game license has expired or been cancelled."

Straight after posting that, I found official confirmation at http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/community/

"Blog comments, forum posting, and profile management are only available to those with an active StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, or Diablo III beta license."

Oh well.

Hm... I know I'm old fashioned but I kinda have a problem with sites that support the breaking of NDAs -- especially if it's from a bitter ex-employee. I'm rooting for Blizz on this one and hope they can get something from the guy to discourage it from happening again.

@yeppers It's hard for me to believe Blizzard didn't expect something like this to happen. The game is too big for it not too. And tbh - I doubt very much it will effect the initial game sales one iota.

That Diablo beta review was done by a bonehead. I think I turned it off at point when he started going yada yada yada.

@Ren54 seriously what the frack are you talking about?? You do know what a CM is, right? They're pretty much just hired PR puppets... so if he "lied" to the community about whatever, then he was most certainly paid by NCSoft to do exactly that... sheesh.... talk about your misplaced hatred.

@eLdritchZ
basically this, ren. If I were you i'd redirect my anger towards someone far more guilty of the Aion debacle.

namely Brian Knox.

a CM is basically a random normal guy hired to keep the community gagged and in check.

BK was the freaking NCSoft's western producer for Aion, and that guy lied thru his teeth a billion times more than Tamat ever did. He singlehandledly caused 90% of the backlash reaction when Aion released.

Ya, Im not too crazy about NDA breaches. Especially ones done so poorly as this. Its a shame people like this cant be marked somehow as a warning to other game developers that they've leaked information.

as a side note, the guy displays his character names. I'll be willing to bet his account gets deactivated within the next few days.

@voodoopapa They ought to do something about it since he did break the agreement. But I wouldn't go bonkers over it - not a real game breaker.

@voodoopapa Since he displayed multiple character names I'm sure blizzard will be able to trace it back to a specific b.net account.

To take it one step further, I bet they can trace who gave him the key from whoever got it and they will get their account terminated also. Whoever started the chain of letting their friend or family member in won't happen again.

A really big letdown for the guy who let these people into the F&F Alpha. Putting his trust out there and having it turned on him and losing his credibility with Blizzard.

I love how every single post from Ren54 is just him saying random, dumb, uneducated / unproven, shit. Its like Puremallace all over again.

I lol every time. I especially love when Apakal constantly schools him. Gotten some of the best comments I ever read on this site from that guy.
