I always thought Dragon Con was a Gaming/Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Comics convention, but judging by this picture, I must be mistaken. I guess in that case, I am looking forward to objectifying women.

@kobeathris lol, these girls are just having fun playing dress up, no need to get upset about it. Costumes are actually a pretty big part of DragonCon to my understanding.

@Wispur That "outfit" should be reviled, not celebrated. It's the epitome of sexual slavery. I'm with Kobeathris on this one.

I agree..its an outrage!!! The only one that should be wearing that outfit is the blonde with the pink bottom :D

The rest should be ashamed of themselves!!

@Wispur

From the link:

"Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe!"

Which of course means 23 Slave Leais is what belongs on top of an article discussing it.

@kobeathris The women in that picture are "objectifying" themselves. I doubt very much that the chains around their necks are more than props and I think it's safe to assume all women put back on their regular outfits and went home afterwards, rather than back to Jabba's slave barge.

"The women in that picture are "objectifying" themselves."

Wow, they not only posed for a picture, but were able to get a Massively editor to use it for his DragonCon article all without him having any conscious thought in the process? Truly the Slave Leia outfit is more powerful than I thought. Either that, or this is an accurate representation of what DragonCon is about.

What am I doing for Dragon Con? Getting the heck out of Atlanta. Dragon Con is a terrible place and really has nothing to do with Gaming in any way shape or form. Its a party/costume con, with lots of drinking. They tuck the gamers in a small corner in the basement of one of the hotels, so as not to disturb the "normal people." F- That.

Never been there, but it's also supposed to involve literary works (Novels/Books of Fantasy and Sci-Fi) and stuff like that.

But I've noted that time marches on. I have heard Gen-Con, a purely gaming con, has also changed from its pure PnP roots into involving different media, like MMOs, Single-Player RPGs, and much more; although they probably still give more room to such PnP-styled gaming than say DragonCon.

For me, cons like this are more about finding out info, getting autographs, mingling, people-watch, and buying stuff in dealer's rooms. DragonCon seems to have the standard traditional roots of trying to be all things to everyone, not just one section of people. It's nice to hear how they've evolved into something big. Really, IMO, even games of electronic media shouldn't be there, but they are: Time marches on. I can't blame them. It can be hard to control/focus such a huge con, but still seems like a fun time to me.
