yeah I'm not throwing 200 at something like that. it will drive the market value way down and guess what you'll be sitting ona bunch of plex's with no profit to be made. GG with that.

*queue pre-emptive laugh at any suckers buying into this one.

It's been a while since I played so I wasn't around when the cashshop drama happened being as I was long gone by then. But I respect CCP and the fact that they stayed true to their vision in making a game for hardcore players. At the same time I feel that is their ultimate downfall, gaming trends are changing to casual friendly and Eve will be a relic along with a bygone breed of players.

@Seldra That CCP died about 2 years ago, the CCP of today are desperate money whores as they've pissed away most of it on two other major projects at the same time, while mostly ignoring their ' golden goose' internet spaceships game.

@Seldra, Darkstryke has it right. CCP has pretty much steered away from their hardcore player base in favor of a newer Macro Transaction crowd to help finance their two new projects. Unfortunately in all that they've also pretty much decided to ignore Eve Online.

All the recent patches have been bug filled, content when delivered has been minimal and often delivered several patches late.

The CCP and Eve most people remember from year's ago is gone, now they're just sucking all the money they can get to get WoD up and running.

Wow, if that's the case that's an incredible shame to go from well respected to just another developer company. I hate to say it but what you guys described sounds very Cryptic like.

It's interesting how perception of CCP on gaming sites has dived from "everything they do is *awesome*" three years ago to "desperate money whores" today.

But I guess that's what you get for catering to hardcore gamer audience for 6-7 years and then going completely casual cash-shop for the next 4-5 expansions. People get tired and the hardcore gaming crowd tends to be quite vocal.

Having said that, this deal is not exactly spectacular and I fear what this does to the in-game PLEX price. Crashing that market will piss off a lot of people.

But I guess that's their tune these days...

CCP did comment a few months ago that they would monitor PLEX, and try to combat the inflationary factors it is seeing. Short of setting NPC buy orders - which would be a very heavy handed approach in the sandbox - a bulk purchase scheme would seem to be about one of the few tools they have left to try to "correct" the PLEX market.

But it's also hardly a good deal when the PLEX market is driven by futures speculation. If the price starts to fall, it'll probably not tank, but it will eman that more people use PLEX for game time, as the market surplus adjusts, and that'll mean short term, CCP might get a cash boost, that'll be wiped out in the medium term.

tl;dr - this probably isn't a smart move for CCP, who need a better strategy to fix EVE than tinkering with peripheral issues.

I don't get it: why most of EVE haters are the players and not the outsiders?

@(Unverified) Hate is the brother of love. My guess is those who are angry with EVE and still play it - do so because they see the potential in the game, and are angry that their ideal of what it could be (realistic or not) is not being reached.

Dislike in some sense is when you don't really care either way what happens to something or a person.

Haha CCP going desperate for money?

Well , putting practically sanctioned official gold selling and item store into a sandbox mmo will do that for you.

I don't care about CCP anymore , they can crash & burn :/
