I think the big thing for all of these MMOs (AOC, LOTRO, EQ2, AION, WAR CO, STO) is finding their niche in the post GW2, TSW and TOR world. [yes, that was a lot of acronyms] Some people expect them to simply crash and burn, and undoubtedly some of them will, but others will find their 'niche' and remain in it for a good few more years to come.

@BigAndShiny

Yes and i hope more companies are OK with just having niche audiences. There really can only be so many MMOs that capture the attention of almost everyone. They just have to have budgets that reflect having a smaller audience.

Question is does the game needs intercity? I usually hop in and play for the not stressful gameplay, simple and not frustrating a joy to play.

Now we just need peace of mind, peace of mind like STO has just got from your featured comment Massively;
...........................................................
"Perfect World has made it very clear that they want to invest in STO because they believe it has great POTENTIAL and they see an investment that can yield an even better game. That to me, is the golden path that this game deserves. It is Star Trek we are talking about!"
..........................................................

... What about Champions-Online Perfect World? :'(

@SiML Ask and ye shall receive! From this month's State of the Game post, posted just a few hours ago:

"Recently, Cryptic Studios was acquired by Perfect World Entertainment, which purchased us from our old owners, Atari. We couldn’t be happier, and we’re excited about this change in ownership! Perfect World is happy to add Champions Online: Free for All to its portfolio, and things are looking great. Under PWE, we’ll be able to bring you more of the great updates we’ve been putting out, and continue to grow, and improve on, all the things that make Champs so much fun."

Sounds good to me.

@blakerefuge

That is not a statement by Perfect World of enthusiastic intent and endorsement for the games future potential. Thats a short passage scripted by Cryptic marketing in under 5 mins for the Aquisition completion and the SoTG.

Content ?

Their content is comic series / AP which takes MONTHS to create and 2 hours to finish.

Cryptic can't manage a MMO.

@Zuljundwumn

Good then that PWE bought them so that there may potentially be someone who would invest into making the game better rather than the quick & easy money approach that Atari seems to be more interested in.

It is great that Perfect World bought Cryptic, but if they are not going to cherry-pick STO and they are indeed going to invest in Champions Online - then when?.

Seriously, hurry up PWE and expand the CO team, it is starving for new content. If you are not genuine in helping ALL the Cryptic MMOs through your considerable resources then how are you any different at all from the absent landlords that were Atari.

[█ ] Cryptic hate levels are lower than expected. That must mean the game is doing better :)
