Red Dead Redemption is only a glimpse of what a A-class western MMO could be. I think it's high time there was a really good one.

If you included the entire American southwest as your map, you'd have prosperous hub cities, numerous outposts and smaller towns, rich geographical differences from the Badlands to the Rockies to the Painted Desert, all the way to the shores of California.

Make it a settlers vs indians thing. Give the settlers technology and the indians magic. You can easily tweak existing MMO classes into such a game world. The Old West has plenty of its own mythology of ghosts and haunted mines and sacred burial grounds and stuff like that, so the supernatural edge to playing Indian would work nicely.

There really truly needs to be a top-shelf western MMO.

@Ardra Diva

Wonderful! However: Not 'settlers vs NAs' (instead: different factions in different locations; not 'black vs white'); and no fantasy magic (instead: shaman 'spells', 'legends', and 'medicine').

Absolutely, but not a GTA MMO.

RDR would be fine, but more than anything I'd like Rockstar to create a new setting explicitly for MMO purposes.

If it's well made, sure. I have little to no brand loyalty. I don't care who makes a game...the proof is in the pudding, not the box.

L.A. Noire was not made by Rockstar, they were the publishers. They contributed some of the QA testing, but it was made by Team Bondi in Sydney.
