Speculation about Star Wars The Old Republic's launch date is reaching a fever pitch lately, with fans hanging on every word from BioWare and Electronic Arts staffers and chomping at the bit to experience the title's September beta weekends.
The latest release-related blurb comes courtesy of EA bigwig Frank Gibeau, who told CVG that while EA-BioWare does have a date in mind, fan reaction to the beta will ultimately tell the tale.
"It [the launch date] is definitely tied to the beta test feedback that's ongoing and so far, so good. We feel good about the date that we're heading towards but you're right, you could have a Crazy Ivan show up in the September/October beta test and be like, 'wow, I've got to fix that,'" Gibeau said.

hmm... a bit strange. But whatever, can you still update your systems specs on the website? last time i updated them i was using my old system, which wouldn't have met reqs. But now, i don't see the option anywhere :(

@RTaveira8 They have already announced the minimum and optimal system specs for the game, so there's no reason for you to submit your specs anymore. You can either run the game, or you can't.

But that'll make it so the game will release just a week later, and we all know they have to have it now now now, instead of fixed and playing well. I cannot wait for this to blow up in the players' faces because they kept screaming and throwing positive feedback just to get an early release date.

@Ren54 I would absolutely hate for the game to be delayed even one single day longer because of incessant whining from people who are adamant that because game A has feature B, TOR should have it too.

Agreed with Lenn.
Whilst I think AddOns and/or a customisable UI really are extremely important in an MMO, everything else is just fluff or features that, frankly, may not even work with TOR (are are just plain bad in the vase of cross-realm dungeon finders.)

Predictable marketing plan is predictable. Didn't see this one coming? Cranial rectal inversion correction surgery is very affordable these days, without having to travel to Mexico!

And again, nerds are angry and upset at me for pointing out obvious things that slip by them. How did the stereotype of intellectualism come into association with this crowd?

Looks like the game should be delayed then.. There are quite a few design elements and missing features that there is universal hate for. Of course, they haven't addressed these issues over the past 9 months so why start now?
The game is solid, I'll give them that. However, it feels old and familiar and the 'story driven' aspect seems to have really limited their options (ie, don't expect to play anything that doesn't look like a human).
I want this game to do well but its feeling more like Warhammer 2.0

@Dril Trion fell for that hook, line and sinker. They WoWified Rift to the point where you might as well be playing WoW. The TOR forums are already infested with WoW-players who would like nothing more than to see each and every feature ever implemented in WoW, good or bad, to appear in TOR as well. BioWare should really not listen to those people and just go with what they think is best for the game. Features can always be added later when they deem them necessary.

single server warfronts and LFG ..something i miss from WoW. now it doesnt really matter whos the best pvp player/guild on the server..it used to actually effect morale if a a high-warlord joined your battle front. now it doesnt really matter and its even worse in LFG since the fact u cant really make friends (this is a a social game) with people during the grp because they are on different servers.

Agreed, there are multiple pros/cons to the cross server LFG system but the cons, to me, carry too much weight. Sure, you get into groups faster, but what happened to social aspect of the MMO? Remember when you had to meet up with people to get a group started? Remember when you found that great tank or healer and friended him/her? Now we barely even speak to each other while grouping. it's one of the reasons why I can't believe they're doing a LF raid feature in the next WoW patch. I liked WoW when it was about being social, not about how fast you can get your epic loot.

@remeran TOR doesn't even need a cross-server anything right now. The whole purpose of a feature like that is to make it easier for low level players to find groups when the majority of players are in the higher brackets.
Either that, or to make it easier for people on low-population servers to find gorups. But in that case a server merger might be a much better solution.

Yeah, I really enjoyed single server WFs as well. I am not sure about SWToR not having them thou. Everybody has gotten use to them atm. Still, really looking forward to the game.

First, there have been plenty of players concerned about wanting a cross server looking for group system and dual spec. Second the devs have said repeatedly that there will be the option to use add ons.
Lastly, none of these, besides the option to use add ons is a serious issue. In fact, one can argue that they aren't issues at all. I mean, WoW only added the lfg system and the dual spec system in what? Wrath of the Lich King? so from 2004-2008/9 there wasn't a lfg system or a dual spec system. WoW was fine for me without it.
If you wanted to play WoW in space ask blizzard to make a world of starcraft. Other than that relax, patience is a virtue. We may not see these features at launch, but that doesn't mean it's not coming. WoW didn't start with em.

Well, for whats it's worth, I think the beta is going very well. Despite some of the problems that are occurring I think they will be worked out in the next month or so. UI and dual spec's are secondary concerns. Despite the LFG feature I still haven't had a problem getting a group ever. What I think the focus should be on is fixing bugs and client stability. Server side latency and graphics optimization needs a pass.

Agree with Ren54 but only up to the point that people need to start giving real feedback if necessary but I think if the game is solid they will implement the 'fluff' with patches at a later date.
