Do like i did quit the game, 3 days after hitting 50 because all taht was left was raiding and doing same dungeons over and over. IE no content

But then again took me 3 weeks to hit 50 at release because really content and leveling in that game is too easy. I miss the way of old EQ where even when you hit max level you still had a lot of content left to go through an content specifically for max level.

New games these day when you hit max level all you have left is dungeon crawling and raiding which gets boring fast.

@Ren54

Yes they adding content but still how long will this new content keep people busy once they hit max level 1 week at most? then your stuck in same solution

EQ had quest that took months to complete at max level.

I'd like to see more lore and story-driven content at max. I think the upcoming patch might fix that with solo dungeons.

I don't think you've mentioned PVP Rifts. They added a lot of dynamic activity in the open world. It's fun to see a battle happening when you step out of town.

@Ren54 People like it because they get to participate in PvP on their own terms, when they want to and it's not instanced.

I just could not find, cannot find still a character I really enjoy playing....

What is a good calling / class build to play that is fun?

Something that involves more then just spamming the same sequence/rotation every single fight... over and over again...

Something with a little more depth to it.

I tried Chloromancer/Archon for a while but even that got pretty lame.

Help? I really want to like this game...

@heerobya Agree, I had 2 hotbars filled with abilities and I was able to level maybe using just 2-3 of those abilities, this found me logging off shortly after logging in. And then testing other Souls didn't provide any enjoyment either. I'm not trying to troll, I just cannot see what people find so interesting about this game and how this blog continues to promote it.

Is it because people find this to be a mature WoW? I cannot see how people are still playing this game. PVE was a retread, PVP was awful, hundreds of abilities that were basically meaningless......

@Triskelion Honestly, people play it because it's a better version of WoW. For a while, I became really bored and tired of Rift but one day, I went back in with the purpose of enjoying the stories, quests and world of Telera. I found that if I tried to immerse myself in the world, I enjoyed the game more.

But in the end, it's only going to keep me until the other big games come out.

@heerobya When i was playing (headstart to about a month after launch) i really enjoyed nightblade/riftstalker playstyle but i quit after lack of content and rogues being useless/over saturated i'm not sure if the problem has been fixed or if classes have been overhauled, but that's my best suggestion.

I think I just can't stand the "standard" questing anymore.

I either want to just wander around crafting and killing stuff and participating in events/public stuff or I want an actual story with meaning and dialogue and purpose to immerse myself in.

Probably why SWTOR and GW2 are the only two games on my radar.

Maybe I'll try playing Rift without doing any quests, see if I enjoy it more....

@Triskelion "I could not get past level 28"

playing less than half the pre-endgame does not exactly give you a full summary of what is and isn't useful. Not only did you never see the higher dungeons, you likely only got to see 3 zones and how many warfronts?

At least see the whole game before you start crapping on it.

What souls did you pick? Now I have like the same 10 attack abilities/spells I press every single fight, button bingo! - reminds me of EQ2. I would prefer 2-3 abilities to use in a fight, mind you the cooldown on the abilities should have enough time to reset, so you can go back to the first one.

I as another said try to like this game, but it just doesn't draw me in. It's well made, seems very glitch-free, but lacking somehow. Maybe that's where all the WoW-talk comes in, as I quickly found WoW to also be kinda soul-less (and they do try with giving you so many souls! Ha! but seriously....) It's manin "big-thing" the "Rifts" I find very boring.

"That said, I still felt overwhelmed when the final ding happened because my previously clear goals evaporated in a second. What do I do now? How do I gear up? What does one do at level 50, anyway?"

Grats. And welcome to the Grind.

If you PvP you have the new Vengeance change to look forward to. /snicker

If you like dungeons, you'll fair much better. Tons of em', tons of grinding, tons of macro smashing.

If you like casual, day to day stuff.. you're playing the wrong game. From 50 out it's a grind and why many people who profess their love for RIFT don't actually have a level 50 yet.

Oh, BS.

There is plenty to do at 50, whether you PvP, do dungeons, raid, do invasions or a combination of all of them.

Everyday I log in (and I have a 50), I have multiple things to do. I normally do my world PvP dailies (always tons of fun), my Daily Rift Raid (never found a game that encourages open world Raid content like Rift does) and after that I have a large selection of things to do. I can craft (the new high-end crafted gear is awesome and equivalent to most raid gear), I can do T2 dungeons, I can do an instanced raid, I can do PvP Rifts (very, very fun on high pop servers), I can do warfronts, I can do random World PvP (my server has world PvP constantly and everywhere) or I can do other raid rifts, invasions and events. Those tend to lead to even more world PvP.

Rift has everything that most MMOs has at endgame with the addition of the various rifts, rift raids and invasions. None of it is any more or less a grind as it was in EQ2, WoW or Warhammer.

As for the PvP changes to Valor and the addition of Vengeance, it was needed. Rank 8s (of which I am one) were just too powerful against those at Rank 4 or below. We are talking one shot normally. The valor changes level evertyhing out a bit. A Rank still has an advantage over a Rank 1-4 but its not overwhelming and the lower rank has a chance.

Vengeance is only there to keep PvP gear being better for PvE than high end raid gear. That is all. There is nothing new to grind, it comes built in to all PvP gear. Before Vengeance, some of the best equipment for PvE was PvP gear which, of course, players who only PvE'd did not like. Vengeance just allows PvP gear to be preferred in PvP and PvE gear to be preferred in PvE.

@esloan

Not really BS.

- "I can do T2 dungeons" And you WILL. Over and over and over. Lots of them, yuk yuk. Glad you like them.

- "world PvP dailies" Sorry, dailies just suck. Period. I still have no idea how this outmoded model squirms it's way into each new game release. Some games have them at a minimum though, which RIFT unfortunately does not. Good thing you like dailies.

- "Daily Rift Raid" Again, same few raids. Same repeatable daily. /snore

- "Crafting/crafting rifts" Same repeatable ones and if you get lucky you can sell your goods in a broken economy. Yay!

- "PvP Rifts" This wasn't actually that bad although I think it had more to do with the fact that it hasn't gotten old yet (not a month old). Although it's not really a "rift". We know what it is and it's fine for now.

No one bothers with invasions really once they hit 50 so it doesn't matter that they have it. Most people get bored of invasions by the time they hit Shimmer.

Regardless of whether you think Vengeance is a good idea or not, there are a hell of a lot of PvP people in RIFT right now saying that when they bring this in, they are quitting. I'm still here until my sub runs out in October but I've done everything there is to do.

There is simply too much buggy and boring stuff going on now after six months that it's losing steam fast. We will see what happens in the future but right now, it's pretty evident that the game is bleeding pretty badly as far as customer satisfaction for many.

It's a "good" game but it's certainly rather generic.

@real65rcncom nothing that YOU like != nothing at all.

rift isnt your game, we all got that like... 40 rants ago. But claiming there isn't anything to do at 50 but grind dungeons is just plain stupid.

I'm sure you have a preferred game that gives you exactly what you are looking for at end game. Perhaps you would care to share the features that game has that makes it so much better for you than Rift?
