@Nef

I have no idea how a F2P person would be halfway competitive in this world given what they restrict.

It wouldn't take them just a little bit longer to do things with those restrictions so I'm guessing they assume the F2Pers are planning of doing a lot of PvE and farming.

@real65rcncom

Considering we don't have any hard numbers it's difficult to say how much longer it will take. As far as being competitive, if you mean in PvP it wouldn't really matter that much.

I don't play fallen earth but that looks pretty fair to me, I'm not sure why so many people feel entitled when they play f2p games...your playing for free guys.

Because I've played other F2P games that were much better than this that didn't stoop to this level of nickle and diming.

@Nenene

I hope they all start limiting free players this much. The more you limit free players the less crap you have to sell in the store that subscribers have to buy to make up for the freeloaders.

I'm with the poster above you. I am tired of this mentality that people are OWED to play a game for free. Stop being cheap and pay for entertainment like everyone else.

@SnarlingWolf If these games were doing so well in the first place they wouldn't -need- to go f2p now would they?

Wait, why is this a problem?
I've never really been interested in the game until now but the restrictions on the F2P tier seem pretty light to me, there's nothing that affects combat and the more severe ones (AH/Mail access/Global chat restrictions) are to stop spammers.
Just seems like the people commenting are actively looking for the smallest things to moan about.
Also the "Aura" subbers get which gives their friends their bonuses is amazing.

You don't PvP do you?

If you did, you'd instantly see how much of a disadvantage someone who is F2P is having vs someone who is paying full price.

There are much better ways of doing this. AoC is an example. Even though their are plenty of restrictions of the F2P people (alt amount, bag space, mail, etc) they still don't have to worry about slower exp, death penalty and simple everyday things.

If someone was playing PvE strictly in Fallen Earth as F2P then this is very fair.

@real65rcncom You've been arguing that there's nothing wrong with an MMO developer having subscriptions + item shop, but you don't like that a F2P game has restrictions on free accounts? Whatever happened to, "Games cost too much to be made nowadays. Players want everything for free. Even things that are included in CEs some fans whine and complain that they have to spend extra money to get them (imagine that!)." You said that only six hours ago.

F2P players who don't like the restrictions can spend money to eliminate them.

Sounds like Fallen Earth is taking the "let's make our free version a glorified trial" approach to F2P models, which isn't really a bad thing.

Not that I'm in a hurry to reach max level, although I would like it to happen some time this decade, I couldn't imagine leveling any slower FE. As much as I love it, there are some serious gaps in level progression. This IMO needs to be addressed. I would rather do missions that progress the overall story, not grind a couple levels then get back on track and do some missions. Maybe I'm missing something in FE, but I really don't think I am. If XP gain was any lower, I would leave pure and simple. And I love the game, but it's not fun to not progress.

The FTP thing remains to be seen, but I like what I see so far from Gamers First. I hope for all of us that are FE players there are only good things ahead. I think we are in good hands.

I'd be happy with one character. I have one on a defunct acct and wouldn't mind dusting her off when this goes live to check out the game again and see what the hullabaloo is all about =)

I'm always torn between laughing my butt off and rolling my eyes at people who QQ about what F2P players get. It's FREE YOU MORONS. They don't owe you anything so leave your sense of entitlement at the door.

I'm not surprised. G1 tends to shaft people with it comes to F2P.

@dragonandante I think the devs that try to shaft people on F2P are the ones that actually limit content and levels. That's not F2P. That's a trial.

The free scavenger subscription would allow you to go all the way to the end of the game without paying a dime, though I admit the chip limit would make that very hard.

I, personally, think they haven't given people *enough* reason to subscribe to APB. I can play just fine without spending a dime.

I can't tell if FE subscribers get G1 credits to spend in the store. If not, that's rather disappointing, because that still creates the whole cash shop exclusives problem, where some content is only available to people who spend even more money than their subscription.

That's what the "Fallen Earth Store Discount" and "Reward Points" lines are for. ;) Also, the chip limit (and I think some other restrictions) go away if you ever spent any real money on the game.

@JuliusSeizure Ah. The last time I got into the game, I saw that I had some reward points, but the reward points vendor was just an NPC I clicked on. I didn't realize that was the same content available in the store.

It's not exactly, but they're shifting things around and giving subscribers access to more things for reward points that those paying less have to get from the cash shop. At least that's what they said shortly after the initial announcement, which was a while ago now.

@Graill440 Are there any F2P MMOs that are truly free? (I'm asking seriously; I'm not trying to be snarky).

(Personally, I'm glad the chat/mail/AH restrictions are in place to combat gold-selling and spam).
