This is the separation of the unworthy.

I think its pretty funny that people are crying over the sign up being delayed.

Agreed with some other posters here. If you were to look closer, you would believe this is all an elaborate arg tied into the beta of the game. Silly silly.

LOL if this is arg it is even worse, oh man this game will fail so hard.

They will be totally totally steamrolled by Swtor and GW2 , with a helping hand of Tera and ArcheAge.

@smartstep I think it just fails for people who don't like to think while playing mostly.

Players cry about innovation yet, here is one of the most innovative beta launches ever in the history of mmos and because people are so used to "Where's ma key?" like sheep.. they totally missed the point.

If you ever played The Longest Journey and games like that you'd understand this is exactly what they should be doing to separate the game (and it's potential playerbas) from the run of the mill people looking to grind reputation in dungeon after dungeon only to quit after they get geared.

If people couldn't even figure out it was a part OF the beta (to find those truly looking for adventure in every form) then as said, they probably should just be waiting for Tera to come out.

@real65rcncom As an ARG it fails because it reinforces the whole "Funcom can't do anything right" meme. It's like when GOG.com announced they were shutting down as part as a big relaunch - it wasn't clever marketing, it just reminded people that all their online purchases were vulnerable to the servers being shut down.

Making the game less accessible / telling the world that Funcom can't even get a beta launch right isn't clever at all.

I'm not taking sides here, but Funcom isn't the only one publishing this game. Perhaps it's out of their hands. Perhaps it's EA who has thrown the wrench into the gears of progress. Perhaps it's neither. Perhaps it's part of an elaborate scheme to get the masses in a frenzy. All I'm saying is, think before you speak. Assumptions are a bitch, and they can come back to bite you in the arse.

100% publicity stunt. They've had beta sign ups running for over a year now through their 'faction test'. Now it 'fails' when they change it? Nope, they just wanted to give the game a shot of attention.

Very clever stuff. Just a shame that most MMO companies have such a poor reputation that Funcom have almost been too clever. The vote for an "Ambassador" is currently taking place on the forums while information is being released by a twitter account.
