A friend of mine and I were talking about why I still go back and play EQII for a while, pretty much every year.

I explained, "It's like one of those sports bar/chain restaurant things -- like TGI Fridays -- the food isn't the best, but there's a /lot/ of it, and they just keep it coming".

So many MMORPGs I dip into (and that I like just fine) seem to run out of play choices after the first twenty levels or so -- there's effectively one content path to endgame, one set of zones to visit, and that's it.

Just by virtue of having been around for so long, in MMORPG terms, if I'm bored with the area I'm in, there always seem to be alternative places I can go in EQII to level up.

Certainly, EQII has its minor quirks, and bugs, and frustrations, but /if/ you're okay with these, there always seems to be a lot of adventuring available.

My take anyway. Your mileage may vary, and that's cool

I feel exactly the same. There is so much to do, that I can actually just lose myself in game. I don't think I have actually thought about gaining exp in years. I've been locked since I made my current main, and "dinging" always startles me. Love this game!

Right there with you. When I stopped writing about it last summer I swore I was done, but I'm still playing it (heavily at times).

Just a great game all the way around.

EQ2 is the one MMO I keep coming back to. I just have so much fun with it and I haven't been able to find another game that replicates that feeling.
