Sounds like somebody mistyped "Padawan."

Why the panda epidemic in games and why did I almost spell "panda" with a capitol "p"?

So our Panda people the new elves? They're going to end up in every single fantasy game for no reason at all?

@yeppers
You seem to be operating under the assumption that Blizzard is going to incorporate the Pandaren as a playable race (or maybe just a featured race) in its upcoming expansion. While Blizzard is obviously planning something with those panda-folk, we know not what that is right now. Also, the Pandawa's Pint class in Wakfu is making a comeback from the MMORPG Dofus which has been around since about the year 2004. Whether or not the Pandawas were featured in the original release of Dofus, I cannot say, but they have been in the game for years. The Pandawa's Pint has been expected within Wakfu for years now, so the developers, Amakna, are not trying to ride the coat-tails of some new panda-humanoid playable character wave. /end rant

(P.S. I was probably so riled up about this comment because 1. I am beta testing Wakfu with this class being the one I'm most hyped for, and 2. You compared them to elves, and I am burnt out on playable elves in fantasy games just like you appear to be.)

Also, that is meant to be @SnarlingWolf, not @yeppers. My apologies. :)

@(Unverified) ^ This. This was an expected release for Wakfu, it was on there website since the site opened. And they're one of the more fun classes to play in Dofus, imo.

So is there some common thing with fantasy pandas drinking or did they just blatantly take that from Blizzard?

@(Unverified) Huh, are the Pandaren also Drunken Masters? I must have missed or forgotten that somehow.

I'm fairly certain that Drunken Boxing is a legitimate martial arts style dating back thousands of years. Since its a Chinese martial art styles and pandas are Chinese, I don't think Blizzard gets any of the credit for making 1+1=2.

@Apakal

It would seem that you are correct!

"The fighting style of the Pandawa, Pandawushu, is a form of drunken self defense. It is much like the real fighting style called Zui Quan, meaning "Drunken Boxing", also sometimes called Zuijiuquan (醉酒拳, literally "Drunken Alcohol Fist"). It is a traditional martial arts form, and also a classification of Wushu. That is probably the reason for calling the art form Pandawushu."

You people seem to forget that the Pandawa have existed in Dofus (the "prequel" to Wakfu) for several years now, so it's not at all related to the recent news of the Pandaren.

@sjheiss Indeed, also it looks like I need to catch up on what happened to Wakfu and Ankama Studio. I could have sworn I was in the beta (or was it alpha) several years ago before Square-Enix was ever in the picture and yet so many people are acting like this is new information. Wonder if I still remember my account info from back then.

meh, one class wont save this game ~
they need to close the beta and rethink the games direction.

as is.. the game is just downright boring and full of griefing tools *(potential).
for anyone interested can check out the youtube vids I made during the
beta a few months ago.
