"Turbine lifts Rise of Isengard NDA"

Okay, someone start spilling some beans here.

I can't. I actually deliberately ignored all the beta invitations I got from them and now that word has come out about what's actually in the expansion I'm glad I did. It would have sucked to have done everything in the beta and then have to redo it all in the live game with it so fresh in my memory.

I'm not seeing nearly enough behind-the-scenes stuff from Turbine. This is cool, but very short.

Incredibly cool I foresee a lot of MMO devs getting slammed with teh release of TOR, but Turbine will be largely unaffected they know their audience and their audience is loyal as hell. That goes for both DDO and LOTRO.

@Dunraven

Their audience is NOT so loyal as you might think. While I for one have been loyal, this farce of an expansion has done it in for many. The forums have been on fire the past week because of the greed going on and now that the NDA has been lifted more people will see that the beta folks had a right to be mad and they will too. This expansion comes at a bad time for Turbine as the last thing they need to do is piss off some of their most loyal fans by offering less than whats deserved when talking about an expansion.

@Dunraven I disagree. Not so much as 'loyal' but more 'casual'. I keep my LOTRO sub going even when subbed into 2 or 3 other MMO's. I come and go from LOTRO as I get bored with other games. Other games come and go but always come back to LOTRO ever few weeks for periods of play.

@SwarlesBarkley This happens every single expansion. The LOTRO forums light up like this constantly from major updates. People are never entirely pleased and there's always this group that screams that they're "done!!!!" with the game.

I really don't see it changing much. We supposedly were going to see some mass exodus from the initial F2P change and the problems with Legendary Items and the problems with Radiance... and what happened?

Honestly, nothing.

I hope LOTRO and DDO survive the slump of international financial growth with these updates.

@Dunraven... i got tired of the way Turbine f2p system forces players to grind and grind for turbine points just to purchase standard features that is already offered to most recent similarly high profile MMO f2p games. LOTRO f2p feature isnt #1 anymore.

@tororosso It takes a very dedicated, or insane, player to do it, but it's entirely possible to play the game all the way to the cap without ever paying a single cent. Can you name another freemium game that offers the same option?

I know what you mean I used to like being in beta for any game but once you played it in beta and go to the live server it is no longer new and it spoils the excitement of playing with friends and guildies.
