Even in superhero games, people still have a deep love of jetpacks. There's something innately wonderful about the idea about strapping on a backpack and slipping the terrible dominion of gravity. That's why Champions Online has introduced a new option for travel powers for players of all types -- the jet pack. And as you would expect, it allows you to take to the skies with style and rocket-powered precision as you soar along.
It probably comes as little surprise that the pack is available in the C-Store. That being said, it's only the actual appearance of the packs is for sale -- all users have access to the Jet Pack travel power, which uses the costume parts. So if you have the urge to strap a rocket to your back and take to the air, your time is now -- and if you're not quite convinced, why not check out the video just past the break?

Those look really good. I might have to log in to my Champions lifetime account for the first time in nearly two years.
Been asking for these in City of Heroes for a looong time with no luck.

Actually, you can buy jetpacks in CoH now. Standard "raptor pack" model, 2 hours of use per, not as fast as level-scaled Flight but it'll get you around. Merchants in Grandville and just the other side of the Firebase Zulu gate (in the Shadow Shard, accessible from Peregrine Island through Portal) sell 'em.

True. However, these are not temporary powers. They're costume pieces that allow you to customize your flight power.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's bad, but I would have much rather had whatever dev time was invested in these packs go towards some new challenging content. The game needs more substance, there are already enough aesthetic options.
And before people start screaming how awesome it is that they added this for FREE, ask yourself how much it costs to retcon in a new travel power.

Forget the jetpack set, the ranged weapon pack is far more enticing

@Amusednow the weapons packs seem highly overpriced for what they are imo.

How come the people who pay $15 a month don't get this for free?
Posted: Aug 26th 2011 10:19AM Lenn said
@Yellowdancer They do get it for free. The travel power is now selectable at the trainer, for both gold and silver players, at no extra cost (other than possible respec costs, which you can pay for with in-game currency). They are selling new jetpack skins for the costume creator, but there have always been jetpacks there to begin with.

First poster is obviously a plant. Who the heck will pay lifetime sub, then want to log back into the game so they can pay more money for a minor aesthetic graphics change?
