This game just wasted 5 minutes of my life. I was looking for something more grand... less... fuzzy.

@Equillian

You familiar with Star Ruler? It's multiplayer capable, but not an MMORTS. I have been finding it satisfying my strategy addiction lately, filling a void that Civ V left and Elemental just isn't meeting my standards.

@nathanb Exact same feelings! Elemental was a disappointment, and Civ V is Civ V.

This game has all the complexity if 4x and the UI is manageable and sometimes even elegant. Really have lost myself in it as as you say, it's
been sometime that a good 4x game has been made released.

Ah, war profiteering. Some people will sell guns to the army outside their door.

I don't like it when games I've never heard anything about suddenly go live.

Seriously, its because mmo companies ONLY rely on mmo sites and blogs to promote their games. MILLIONS dont even know that mmorpgs EXIST!!!!

As for Starjack... MOST PATHETIC WEBSITE i've ever seen!!!! THAT alone will turn away 1000s of players. NOONE wants to try a game that has a website that looks like it was made on geocities in 1997. WOW

website does look bad, number 1 thing I look for on a game I am researching is screenshots then videos then about the playable avatars and then the world....I only made it to the screenshots and I knew it wasn't for me.

@FrostPaw

It is a free game, so you have nothing to lose other than time.

People who care about graphics only need not apply. But for those looking for awesome space strategy gameplay, this game is freaking rocking. I just played all night, and like when I first started Civ, I'm having a hard time stopping. Add to that an MMO setting? Looking frward to seeing how this evolves.

I had tried it in beta, couldn't figure out how to play the thing. What then passed as "tutorial" was not up to the task. Looked like it had potential. I really wish someone would make this kind of game with good graphics and great intuitive interfaces that a person could easily understand. People aren't going to flock to a game that takes more work trying to figure out how to play then actually playing. I do wish them luck, the "genre" needs more diversity.

@Saker I don't know when you last played, but the tutorial is pretty rocking now. It assigns step-by-step missions to complete and everything.

@Jorune I would LOVE to hear another player second Jorune. I really want him to be a real player, and not a plant.

@epilepticemu Im definitely a fanboy. I've loved this game since beta, so I'd like to see it do well. But I'm not a plant. Regardless though, its free to download and play. So easy to see for yourself!

Saker is right. I spent several hours IN THE EARLY TUTORIAL caught in some kind of resource problem while making 10 ships. I'd made several facilities, and mined resources. I had what was needed, but I couldn't make the first of the 10, couldn't supposedly get the requisite resource although I had 4,000 units of it for the level 0 ship, was being told the cargo hold was full when it was empty, and told an upgraded fleet hq needed for the ship, or that a warehouse was needed for the ship to be made, all of which when tried would also fail. It was a multiheaded catch 22. While the folks on help channel attempted to assist, whatever I was seeing wasn't normal and they figured it was simply the operator. Well, I've the patience of Methuselah and date back to gaming from 1984 to current with stints in everything from lots of space games including MOO2, and of course patience grinds in Everquest, Vanguard, Aika, Aion, Rift, Hellgate and many alpha and beta tests. This tutorial needs help. Their concept is fine, the layout is decent, the website needs major help think even a YouTube video, and they need a marketing person so people can actually see their game. The help person mentioned there were only two developers. The pop-up windows also need to properly respond to the ESC key and close front to back instead of locking up and leaving the user hanging looking for how to get moving again. A couple minutes later the client recovers and some windows become responsive. I do wish them well, but I lost patience after several hours and tutorial re-reads and retries and various attempts to work around, and finally de-installed.

StarJack not for everyone. Definitely a hardcore 4x game. Reminds me a bit of Stars! If anyone remembers that space strategy manifesto.

No the website isn't Bungie or Bioware. But that's not what this game is about. It's for strategists who are looking for a real 4x fix - and not dweebs who want an I win button and there every decision made for them before the game even begins.
