The wait isnt onerous for me yet, we're getting more or less a steady stream of information, with an occasional hiccup in the pipeline. Of course, I also initially expected the game to be out by now.

Compare that to, say, Diablo 3, which I've written off and havent paid any attention to for a year or more.

@Ren54

Well, if you stopped commenting on every other GW2-news article, it would perhaps take less of your time so you could focus on the games that you actually like (if any...:P ).

Uhm... they are on track with their information release. They have said countless times that closed beta is going to be at the end of this year (either November or December). Release will follow and be determined by the amount of feedback received in beta. As for what information is left, let's see: Asura week, last profession, guild system, and mobile phone applications. Yea, not much left before the beta.

Once again, failed to read my full comment. They still have information to release and until they do beta won't be around nor will release. Grow up and have a little patience, every MMO takes on average 4-6 years to make (And GW2 has only been in development for 4 years). That is unless you want them to release the game now unfinished and buggy. Cuz I sure as hell do not want that.

1: Gamescom bitch slapped me and got my really excited for GW2. I'm more excited about it then i was for TOR. It looks simply amazing and because of that, i'm frantically trying to experience the lore of GW1 and get as many points in the HoM as i can.

2: GUY! You should know by now @Ren54 is one of Massivly's lovely trolls. He says these things about EVERY mmo. Don't feed the trolls!

@Ren54

A few suggestions

1.You can stop reading GW2 news on Massively

2.You can start writing your own blog if you are not satisfied with Massively

3. Get some funding and build your own game and make it better than GW2

May be then people will stop calling you "TROLL"

In order to not be a troll, your comments would need at least some degree of factual or relevant information in them. Since everything you say is either totally contrived or skewed beyond any degree of credibility, you are indeed, trolling.

Good day.

@Ren54 How does GW2 "look more finished" than TOR? What an odd thing to say.

They might call Ren, Derek Smart if he/she decides to do #3. Just saying. :)

The character creation stuff looks really great. Even the Sylvari are starting to look better to me.

I don't give a rip about the PvP.

The combat in GW2 looks fine, too.

All in all, the game looks very fun. I'd love to see some info on the overall solo friendliness of GW2, though. I like my MMO grouping to be "a la carte" and not required. I hope that's how GW2 is structured. Nobody ever really asks about that in all those interviews, unfortunately.

GW1 was nearly perfect for us "lone wolf" player types. As far as I can tell, GW2 will be fun but not nearly as solo friendly as the first game but, hopefully, I'm wrong about that.

I am also greatly looking forward to hearing what the final, "mesmer-ish" class is going to be.

@Tom in VA The entire personal story (the "main thrust" of PVE storytelling) is necessarily soloable. I'll eat my hat if it's not.

Everything this game is doing is pointing toward an understanding that, with the game being a "box you buy for you", with online sociability, it belongs first and foremost to the singular player and their personal interface with their game. Yes, there are group-mandatory instances, but they're not the main story thrust. Yes there's PVP, but it's not the main story thrust.

To put this in WOTLK terms: You will solo the lich king. You might want to find a group to see the ulduar or malygos/nexus war storyline. You will need to involve other players if you want to PVP (obviously). They will eliminate a lot of the "counter-social" elements (no kill stealing) to make any community involvement positively bridged into, but you can be a total lone wolf if you like.

"Group because you want to, not because you have to" was the quote, if I recall correctly.

This is correct. From what I remember reading (although I don't remember the source offhand), the entire personal story will be solo except for the very last mission.

This is not inclusive of dungeons, but the dungeon "story mode" isn't a part of your character's personal story.

As far as overworld content, the way dynamic events seem to work, even with other people around you can contribute just fine (and even coordinate with other people if you feel so inclined) without actually partying up.

@Tom in VA This is from the GW2 faq:

"Will Guild Wars 2 be solo-able?
Yes. You will be able to advance your character to the maximum level without ever joining a group if you so desire. Most content will be designed in a solo-friendly way, though often with mechanisms for scaling up in difficulty when more players are involved. This will give players the option to experience the game however they prefer.

At the same time, it is important for an MMO community to join together to overcome challenges. Guild Wars 2 will feature challenges that require players to join forces."

I know this is random and OT, but can somebody tell me how to get verified?

But more on topic: I'm just glad i stopped playing GW back in 2006. I mean, i like it now. It's pretty fun, but idk if i could stand waiting all these years for it, lol.

Those years played off though. I'm trying to play through all the campaigns for lore and for HoM points.

You could try heading to Joystiq's main site and logging in and out there. I've seen that suggested elsewhere. Don't know if it will work though.

@(Unverified) Hey Dotson, I have two links for you. The first is to my Guild Wars 101 series: all of my Flameseeker Chronicles editions that are aimed strictly at beginners: http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/guild-wars-101

The second is a post on our forums regarding that darn "unverified" bug. Believe me, it's driving us up the wall too! http://massively.enjin.com/forum/m/1607038/viewthread/1047251-when-will-massively-fix-its-comment-system

Hope that helps some!

Lol Ren reminds of the time when people were saying Massively should be called MassEVEly because they apparently had too many Eve articles. Some people just don't know when to talk.

So Rubi, for the common man such as myself that does indeed like to label himself on occasion... whats the game looking like for me, a solo, sometimes party user, no guilds anymore, crafting monster, pvp wannabe explorer?
