@Darkmoone

Not only do I get a percentage, but there's a Learjet, an Oslo summer home, casks of whiskey, and a troupe of dancing girls in Hyborian costumes as well.

Life is good.

Next thing you're gonna tell us is you go to sleep hearing fresh lamentations from those women, huh?

This is the type of trolling that Jef was talking about, I guess you just couldn't resist.

Wicanna's community has been really friendly to me, there's the occasional troll but it's only like one or two people.

@Valentina Same here. The community on Wiccana is no worse than any other MMO I've played, and better than a lot of them.

Yeah, I don't get the people complaining about the community either. Wiccana was fine when I was playing a few weeks ago.

I'm guessing the people with bad community problems are playing on the US PvP server. Playing on the EU PvE server I don't have any such problem at all. You might want to give the game a try on a different server and see how it compares.

I play on Set and Deathwish, well not Deathwish so much now that my son took it over and we are only allowed one character. But I have not had any major issues with either community. Global on Set has been very helpful and friendly, not much different than being in a guild. The only time Global gets nasty is when the conversation drifts into sex, politics, or religion. If they stay away from those topics, things are pretty tame :)

#7: /bearhug

I'm certain at least half the complaints about the awful community is because of me doing /bearhug to characters that are the same sex as mine.

"5: 80 Levels. You're coming to the party pretty late. Expect to grind, a lot, and for a lot of the content to be barren until you get to the end-game."

This guy doesn't play the game, totally clueless. These trolls must feel threatened somehow by this game. Don't know what else it could be that motivates them.

Yea, the only slow part of leveling is from 70 on up to 80. I am experiencing that right now with my Barb, and I do need to hop around the game world searching for quests. There are lots of group quests, but solo quests are not as common. Instead of the new adventure pack being in the 50's, it might serve the game better if it was 70+ content. There is plenty of lvl 50 content already.

@Poordevil I would have preferred to see Turan as a lvl 70-80 zone as well :)

I wish there was a quest that was part of destiny quest chain somewhere in this final push to 80. A fun quest with good rewards and some depth would fit in perfectly! I miss the destiny quests. They are a high point of PvE and the game could use a few more of them on the road to 80. Not necessarily as many as there are in Tortage, but a few more would be nice.

Well, they're revamping the current destiny quests. Make them more exciting and challenging (and scaling mobs and loot!).

But yes, I'd love to see a lvl 70 or 75 destiny quest.

Jef, I really love your articles for the most part, but I have to admit that on occasion you adopt a rather condescending tone. Whether or not someone is a 'jobless powergamer' or not, the fact is that some folks simply have more time to devote to their gaming than others, and content volume is a fair concern for those people, too.

That aside, fantastic article as usual. Once I upgrade to a slightly-beefier video card I'll definitely be giving AoC another try.

I tried this game when it first went F2P. But I just couldn't get into it. Something about it just wasn't friendly enough to me.

Maybe it was the overly, bimboized avatar I got stuck with.

Tried this game 2 years ago and it was a bug filled, grindy mess.
After reading this article, I'll give AOC another try.

Did Jef actually have the unmitigated gall to list "Trendy" as one of the reasons?

Honestly don't we have enough issues with Hipsters invading our games because they are "trendy?"
