What are these two Star Wars: The Old Republic companions working on? If you've been following the game for any extended period of time, you know they are working on Crew Skills. This is BioWare's answer to crafting in SWTOR. But Crew Skills reach well beyond crafting; players can gather resources and accumulate faction, as well.
When BioWare introduced us to the system a long while back, only eight crew skills were revealed. However, on Friday, the Community Team gave us a stealth update to the Crew Skills page, revealing all the categories. For example, Archaeology is now listed under gathering skills. Crafting skills will apparently grant players Armstech, Cybertech, and Synthweaving. And finally, we will be able to send our companions on Investigation and Underworld Trading missions.
The Star Wars: The Old Republic Crew Skills page has all the latest information; check that out, then watch Massively next weekend for all the TOR PAX information.

You must be lying then, because all crew skills are already in beta.

If it was your first visit you wouldn't. If it wasn't your memory is going.

It's good that you can still do things yourself (gathering-wise, at least) so that people who want to make money off it aren't tied down by their crew.
And I know which one I'll be taking: Artificer, if only because I assume there'll be some unique colour crystals and my Jedi is sure as hell not doing any raids without a purple lightsaber.

Its only sad that SWTOR has added the feature that STO had to add long time ago, although it is going to add the duty officers system. http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/captains-log-the-lower-decks/
But I am sad to just think that of this system was added to the game( with lots of bug fixing and the new ground combat system) STO could have drained much hype from SWTOR. Well at least Atari won't corrupt more IPs, at least in the form of MMO's.

STO isn't going to steal business away from TOR... or any other game for that matter.
Can't see why anyone who isn't a hard core trek geek desperate to play in that universe would subscribe to it... terribly disappointing

I wish it was underworld trading or diplomacy. Alas, it is but the same system as WoW for the most part, except your companions do the crafting for you. I myself would like to see a system more to do with trading and supply chains.
And surely in a sci-fi world, hiring a big company to build something for you would be a lot more easy to do and believe rather than somehow having tons of super advanced, micro sized technology on your personal ship.
