Well, I didn't expect it to look like this.

@Tizmah

I don't dislike the art style, just felt odd for a theme that is quick dark....

Well that probably takes the cake for least informative trailer ever!

I am intrigued by this MMO, I like the artwork, the mechanics(permadeath), the emphasis on crafting, the historical setting, but since it is a cash shop game aka realistically known as pay to play rather than a fair flat subscription model, I have no choice but to pass on it.

I LOVE the look of the trailer, love the browser-basednessocity of it, but cannot stand the open PvP and permadeath combo. That puts it firmly back into the "Huh?" territory.

Still, I'll try it! :)

@Beau Hindman Yeah permadeath is a weird one.... but hey - maybe the combat is as awkward and unappealing as it is in Wurm.... everything might turn out ok :D

For some reason this game is still very intriguing...

@Beau Hindman - well, from what I've heard it isn't true permadeath, as you restart as a descendant that inherits stats(?), property, and items from the dead character, or something like that. Interesting. And the PvP might not be very common as killing others might quickly make your character a hunted criminal? Or so I hope that is how they are planning things.

I'm certainly willing to give it a try, being F2P, from Paradox, and with a strong crafting/community building aspect. Any chance you'll start a Massively.com group? That could be fun if the game is actually good: working together to build a small town, gathering the harvest in autumn, putting innocent women on trial for their life over witchcraft accusations... ah, good times for everyone... except maybe the womenfolk that go on trial. ;-P

@Yarr

If it works like H&H works today (which is likely, considering this game is a H&H reskin), you'll get some fractions of a percent of your skills when you die and inherit.

"It's the crafting MMO with permadeath and a PvP focus..."

I'd be hard pressed to think of a way to make a game sound less enjoyable. Oh, and its browser-based...

I didn't know Tim Burton was directing MMOs nowadays.

Crafting = witchcraft?

...no, crafting = PvP apparently. Perhaps player characters get ganked by someone weilding a nail gun or a cast iron frying pan. Then you have to /reroll :(

I also was guessing that Witchcraft = The Craft = "crafting". Especially since permadeath would make any investment into crafting into a wasted investment. However if it is true that your new toon inherited, that might make it more feasible.

It's too bad that it has both PvP and permadeath as it looks intriguing...

I want to root for any game that bills itself as a crafting MMO. But the rest sounds like, "we've finally got PvP right by introducing REAL CONSEQENCES!" Tcha, right. Been there, done that, bought the failsauce.

Not sure if we can post URL's to YouTube vids here, but there is a good interview about Salem from the Gamescom event going on in Germany by TotalBiscuit on his TotalHalibut channel. Definitely worth checking out if you're curious about the game.
