Don't let the cartoony graphics and curvaceous bunny-girls fool you -- the gameplay shows dynamic, fairly mobile combat and impressive environments along with a few surprises here and there. Jump past the cut to see it for yourself, and if you want to see even more, keep an eye out for Massively's hands-on impressions of WildStar next week at PAX!
After several weeks of curiosity and anticipation surrounding the new game from Carbine studios, the developers have started releasing information on WildStar in a big way. First there was a trailer, then details on the game's races and classes, and today Carbine has released eight minutes of gameplay footage.

@Dumac the combat just seems like tab target and 1-9 hotkey?

Static "boss" creatures is a huge disappointment when the rest of the game-play looks polished, hope that gets sorted out before beta.

I have to give them props for style. The way that video opened with the voiceover during the title was engaging. As for the rest of the video, it's hard not to draw WoW comparisons about the combat and the overall stylization of the art. But there are also clearly a number of things that are different such as really having to pay attention to position or having environmental hazards.
Overall, this continues to look like FUN.
I'm also surprised to see a gameplay trailer so soon. Makes me wonder just how far from release the game actually is. Seems like they've been playing things close to the vest and are avoiding the endless hype game. (I'm looking at YOU, BioWare and ArenaNet!!!!)

It really looks more like a single player game. Even in the moments with all three characters, the others looked like they behaved as AI companions.

@bobfish Likewise, I have a feeling that it'll have the Hero/Henchmen feature that Guild Wars has or more recently with STO with the away team for ground missions. Not that I don't mind, but I hope the next video shows off content that has multiple players in mind. Right now seems like you can only play the prebuilt storyline characters and that doesn't feel very mmo to me.

Looks pretty basic. Like the above poster, I would have like to see move movement from the boss. Still... looks surprisingly good already. Of course the 'cartoony' graphics probably make it look more polished than if it were going for a realistic look.

Bioware had best start paying attention to what the competition is doing.
While the washed up Austin MMO has been's try to revive crappy design ideas that from Tabula Rasa and UO and bank on their IP - the competition is moving forward.
Swtor plays like a game that should have been released 5 years ago. However, while WildStar is not my style, its exciting to see some companies trying to do something different. I look forward to seeing more of what WildStar has to offer.

This looks like what Blizzard would have done in 2004 if it had the tools these guys have today. It basically looks like a WoW expansion for a new race.
It does look fun, but that's exactly what WoW was when it was released too and look how many people hate that now.
You get exp for:
killing the mob,
dodging the mobs attacks while fighting,
and for stunning or blocking it's attacks.
Want to take a guess at how fast someone is going to hit max in this game?
The game looks okay but anyone getting excited and criticizing WoW or EA for things really needs to get a grip.

Oh please. The visual style in this is more appealing, but the gameplay isn't any more dynamic. Aside from the dodges, the controls looked pretty standard. You could have just said "I don't like TOR" and contributed the same amount to the discourse.

That looks really good. And dodging avalanches? How many MMOs have you dodging avalanches? They should advertise with that.

I have to say I wasn't impressed with the previous info that had been released... but I like the art style and gameplay from this video. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
