I had absolutely zero interest in this game until watching the trailer. Looks AMAZING.

Well, one thing is for certain, the music in this game is absolutely astounding.

Although the music at the beginning was a bit of a weird choice, they are absolutely nailing that "painterly" aesthetic in the "cutscenes." It looked absolutely gorgeous.

@Ren54

FYI, in MMOs, lag in crowded areas is most commonly caused by CPU overload, not GPU. You can buy the most expensive card on the market and it isn't going to make a bit of difference if your processor is from 1993.

This game will be more graphically demanding than WoW, sure, but its not going to take a $400 card to run at decent to good settings.

@EMH
The people who founded ArenaNet were Blizzard developers previously. They have a lot of talented people who have come to ANet from previous experience with developing MMOs.

They're doing some "revolutionary" things but what confuses me is the impression that what they're doing is so revolutionary that it can't be done. The reason they're able to do what they have is that they have the support, money, and time to concentrate on fixing what they see as broken and putting in a lot of detail. Not every game company has that, or has a design philosophy that supports that (while this isn't meant as a jab at SW:TOR, they probably had enough money and support to do something similar, but chose to not rock the boat too much). They're not exactly claiming they can turn lead into gold, here, they're just saying, "Look at all the stuff we're changing that players generally wish for/complain about!"

I seriously don't get it.

Yeah, it was an alright trailer, but it wasn't very inspiring. Just a lot of slowed-down animations and very little actual, normal gameplay.

Still waiting for GW2 to show me something other than hype and snazzy but useless trailers.

It's just that compared to everything out now, it looks far more epic.

People don't need to see much more with what's out on the market right now than what GW2 is showing, and that it's B2P.

Name one game out now that looks better than this? You'd be pretty hard pressed.

Wel, why don't you actually take a moment and watch people playing the game, since there is currently and will soon be loads of footage of it.

There's actually a lot of solid information about the game available, which is why I can't sympathize with people who come into the comments on these articles and complain that the game is just hype and vague promises.

@Irem

Go ahead, link me some incredible, amazing and above all actual in-game footage (i.e. from a player's perspective) demonstrating why GW2 is so fantastic and brilliant.

All of the solo gameplay I've seen looks exactly like other MMOs (BUT WITH ROLLING!) and I've yet to see any convincing group footage.

Here's two from today that I enjoyed.

Sylvari Engineer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkV5SrEBqs0
Tequatl the Sunless Dynamic Event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0nCHPl_mEU

Because I don't usually get a sense of how much I'm going to enjoy gameplay from watching videos (they don't tell me how it feels, or plays, just how it looks), I put a lot more stock in what people are writing about it. Which has been 99% "I had fun, I wanted to keep playing, we got our asses kicked, I felt immersed, the world is beautiful," ect. I also consider the source, so it makes me happy when I see people who aren't even familiar enough with the game to spell the races' names right talking it up as a fun gameplay experience: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/guild_wars_2/b/pc/archive/2011/08/17/rabbits-versus-dragons-in-guild-wars-2.aspx

The fact is that there's a lot of in-depth information apart from trailers. There are articles written by people who have actually played it; there are extensive writeups on the game's systems and philosophy; there's a wiki with masses of info and links. I'm not gonna sit here claiming there's a gameplay video that will blow you out of the water, but acting like all ArenaNet has done is release a few trailers and then sit on their thumbs and spin is disingenuous.

Those animated concept art videos are like crack to me. Also loved the shots of Zojja and Eir. and it seems llike there are new golem designs too.

I wish it had a subscription :(

Almost every non-sub game is just dripping with the 14yr olds and it really kills things, ah well I'll just have to hope that my prime playtime remains after their bed time.

Umm... What? Games with subscriptions are also "dripping with 14yr olds."

GW1 has a decent enough community. The box price itself is a deterrent, because kids can't just download it on a whim.
