That's good.

Not only does it actually have a release date, but said date is just far away enough that I can forget about it, but not so far away that when I remember it in 3-6months it'll still be an epoch away (*COUGHEDY COUGH COUGH* SWTOR *cough*).

Let's hope it's not buggy and contentless at launch and it's sorted!

@Dril

Lets remind everone that both AO and AOC were delayed by more than a year of the orginal release announchment.

Lets also remind ppl that both AO and AOC were launched unfinished - very close to unplayable - and were only launched cause the company simply could not delay it any longer.

Exact the same will happen here. Dont hold you breath - and dont expect a finished product. Dont pre-order - dont buy it at release and dont be surpised that the PR ppl will say all sorts of nonsense - but then close the game forums down from public viewing to hide the real state of the game.

Cause thats nothing new when it comes to Funcom.

You might as well have said that about STO too.

@Deadalon I would not dispute the unfinished product comment, but to say AOC was almost unplayable I would take issue with. Mortal Online and Earthrise were unplayable due to massive technical issues that almost all players encountered, AOC just had a huge drop off in content beyond the port.

I was able to play the port with no major issues, just ran out of crap to do beyond it... so yes unfinished... unplayable not so much.

@Dril

I'm a huge fan of Anarchy Online, but that being said, Funcom has to prove to me they can release a stable game at launch. They never have before and their 2 other games (AO, AoC), while being great in a lot of ways, suffered dramatically from a terrible release.

C'mon Funcom. This very well may be your last shot. Get it right. Cook the game longer and polish it up real nice like!!! :)

Dispute all you like but maybe you need to talk to all those players that played on Windows Vista and had memory leaks so bad that they could play for 3-5 mins. And no... even tho some blamed the ppl that played on Vista - that was not acceptable release of AOC. It was unplayable. Litterally for alot of ppl.

@Nyghtsaber I remember the Anarchy debacle well, was a tester. They didn't listen to us at all, ignored and if they responded at all it was to deride us. Then they pushed it out the door surrounded by pr bs about a "miracle patch", and it literally wouldn't even run for a good percentage of people. It was a huge, bad thing driven by the money-men as these things almost inevitably are. It took them some time to actually get that game into a decent playable game. This was years ago now, and people still haven't learned. After so many other companies have done similar. People should just plain be smarter then that by now. You -DO-NOT- pre-order these games, you wait and see at release if it's actually worthy. If it's actually in some kind of "finished", good, playable condition. DO-NOT trust -ANY- company, -ever-. People should really know better by now. Flashy pr-bs is -nothing-. Come on people wake up already. The corporates are not now, and never will be your friends, their interests are not yours and never will be.

@Deadalon It was playable for me. People are just idiots. They were running their garbage 10 year old desktops and their "gaming laptops" (laugh) and expected to run AoC without a hitch. It's the best looking MMO by a huge margin, you want to play it, pony up for some decent hardware.

@Vagrant Zero Daedalon's life mission is to bash on Funcom and their games every time he can.

I ran AoC on a laptop, it didn't ran good (far of it) but it wasn't unplayable either. It was a good game despite its issues, and right now it's one of the best MMO's on the market.

@Deadalon

let me remind you that the fault for both of those problems lies squarely on Gaute Godager's shoulders as he was game director for both games launches.

He quit Funcom years ago and left the game industry altogether.

TSW's development is run by Ragnar Tornquist. The only Funcom developer and writer who has never mislaunched, misstepped, or mismanaged any of the titles he was in charge of.

Honestly with all the crap that's been going on with TERA I don't think there will be much of a competition between the two games. REALLY looking forward to this.
