The mass global conspiracy to hide the insidious secrets from the public cracked wide open as Funcom revealed that The Secret World is set to reveal the truth at Gamescom.
If you're 16 years or older and attending the convention, head over to Hall 6 to check out Funcom's closed theater where a 20-minute live demo of one of the game's dungeons, The Polaris, will take place. Developers will also be on hand to talk about dungeon crawling, combat, progression, the skill wheel, and boss fights during the presentation.
All players, regardless of age, can take an "initiation test" to see what secret society they should join -- sort of like a much more sinister sorting hat or guidance counselor.
The studio will also be talking to the press about large-scale PvP, so hopefully we'll be learning more details about this aspect of the game next week!

I hope they start talking about target release dates or beta. They've been pumping out so much info lately, it feels they are ready to make some sort of big announcement.

Of all the games to be released, this is the game that I am most interested in playing. I love the Lovecraft Mythos (among others) and this game looks like it dips deep into that well.
Took the 'test', I'm an Illuminati.

I am really interested in this too, which if my recent history of getting excited about games is a pattern, this game will be horrible. I sure hope not, huge potential here.

(Also Illuminati)
Most of this has been shown/ shared before except for the big one - large scale PvP announcement. They've showed video and explained the minigames, just waiting for an announcement for a full zone of 3-faction PvP. What's been revealed so far about the game is really refreshing - 3 faction, modern day horror, classless system... a lot to look forward to. (if they pull it off)

The initiation test? You can take that on their web page.
And the Polaris was shown at another convention recently.
So it seems only the press conference will reveal any new info.

I think tapping into modern, real-world myths is a great idea. I just hope the feel of a SECRET society is upheld by having a line between what everyone else sees and what we in the societies see. Nothing would please me more than going on missions where secrecy is actually important and using ones powers in public can have grave consequences. So yeah count me among the interested, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
Apparently I'd go well with the Dragon, but I think I'd be interested in the Templar.

This game is flirting dangerously with the "over-hyped" classification.

While the ideas for this game sound great. I just wish it could have been a different developer. I'm not a fan of Funcom from past history. If the game is doing well 6 months after release, then I will consider it.

Does anyone really feel excited about this game? Funcom are really good at building hype (e.g. Age of Conan), so only after you buy it, you realize how screwed you are. AoC at launch wasn't even in beta level, it was so buggy in every aspect, unplayable. Don't get into this hype thing they are creating, it will lead to dissapointment very quickly...
