This is why capitalism works.
... For a few percent of a population.

Anybody dumb enough to invest in any kind of bank in Eve deserves to lose all their isk.

This is pretty much the reason I never even took a 2nd look at Eve. It seems the game only caters to the lowest of the low, kind of like those PvP games where you drop your loot on death, or your character dies forever. Still, it keeps the scum from coming into the other games around it, so really, nothing of value is lost.

@ShivanSwordsman

Depends how you look at it, some could say the freedom to devise such scams is an integral part of the game.

Ruthless? Yes, very much so. Only for scumbags? Not quite, at least not in my opinion, outwitting potential scammers and pirates can be a lot of fun.

@ShivanSwordsman most Eve players really dont want your type of player in their game except as fodder so it all balances out.

@ShivanSwordsman : you're 100% correct about EVE, the flytrap of the MMO world. Sooner or later somebody will get wise and make an internet spaceship game for regular people and reap untold riches.

I would be more impressed if they had gained access to the captains quarters and stolen my monocle

So what did they get for the ISK?
Summerhouses in Italy? A whole lot of lapdances?

Don't tell me they didn't RMT it straight away?

@SgtBaker1234556 you can't cash out from isk to cash, the closest you can get is isk to plex, each of which is 30 days game time for about 375 million isk. Never gonna have to buy game time again though.

Of course you can convert ISK to real cash. It's done quite frequently by both scammers and normal botters.

It's just not allowed in the Terms of Service.

They could also do what White Noise did, buy 200 super caps and win at EVE. :/

@SgtBaker1234556 Except CCP made it quite clear that they are watching for these kinds of transactions.

I love these articles. Congratulations to the winners, and I hope the affected have learned their lessons. Also, I expect a suitably epic evil villain monologue to be posted soon, commesurate to the scale of the heist. Remember, if you're going to pull a scam like this off, you HAVE to do it with style!

@(Unverified) Read their letter on their website. I think the only thing missing was the mwuahahaha and some mustache-twirling.

Sure because scamming dumb people in a video game is just like molesting children.
