But do they come with an extra incentive like Bizz's?

After one was used against me and considering my habbit of losing things I will never get one anyway.

@mattwo It can only be used against you if you DON'T have one, since only one can be attached to an account.

As for losing it, I keep mine on my keychain. Doesn't get in the way too much.

@Eamil Remeber I said I lose things? I've lost my wallet AND keys on more than one occasion.

No they were not stolen.

@Eamil Yea, I have gotten better since then, but I still have not bothered to replace my wallet.

Now where are my keys? I know they're definitely near my desk.....

I don't know how bad you are, but I've left mine on my desk - usually next to the monitor, and never had a problem.

Of course, if your desk frequently has things shuffling around on it, this may be a bad idea.

@KvanCetre

I only have one so far (I'll probably wind up getting the SOE one and also get the SWTOR one) but I have a lamp next to my comp. Tied a string/chain around the lamp, bought a key ring, and put my authenticator there. Will put the others on it, too.

If I didn't have a column of some sort nearby, I'd probably tape/duct tape the string to the side of my monitor or at the corner of the desk so it hangs (of course, cats may want to play with it that way...)

@knar66 Absolutely. After the hack it shouldn't even have crossed their minds to do anything but send one out to every subscriber.

@knar66 Normally I'd disagree but after the incident then I believe they should do it for free.

No need to incur more debt. They're developing IOS and Android apps which are free.

@Yellowdancer

Minus the cost of buying an Android/iPhone if you don't have one. Then the free authenticator is a couple hundred bucks. :P In that case, $9.95 seems a lot cheaper. :)

It's 9.99 + Shipping and Handling.

Cost to Australia is +$13.99 for a total of $23.98

Why do SOE/Blizzard have to charge so much to ship such a tiny piece of plastic?

When I ordered my Blizzard Authenticator, I had to order 2 to justify the shipping costs (thankfully, I had a buyer for the second one). It arrived in an A4 FedEx envelope - a waste of cardboard if there ever was one.

" as well as a forthcoming FREE iPhone and Android app which will serve the same function."

So hold off if you have a smartphone and save the shipping.

Becuase Fed Ex set the shipping rate Not blizzard? Blizzard didn't charge you anything for the shipping FedEx did. Also, if I recall correctly the shipping was like $3USD in the US and it arrived in a weeks time.

Guess its just more proof that people must have something to complain about.

@Skyydragonn

I live in the US and have ordered a couple of Blizzard's Authenticators for myself and friends since they have been introduced. I've never been charged for shipping.

Yeah I ordereed 2 from Blizzard when they had them too and on sold the 2nd one.

Couldn't see a way to do that with the SOE one, can't change the quanitity.

As to the smart phone versions, I really prefer the pshyical version, quicker and easier to use
