It's criminal that SoE was the team that got to make this game.

Gotta agree. I was burned by SoE before, but I gave them another chance with DCUO. I tell you...never again....never a-%$^&ing-gain...

I think I kinda know why CCao is'nt on the project anymore, either SoE wanted it ran a certain way, and he refused / quit or was fired for refusing.

Or Im thinking too much into this...

Either way, the potential this game had almost brings tears to my eyes.

Thanks SoE...thanks alot.

It was completely an exercise in greed.

This game could have flourished if it launched under a buy2play business model. There would have been a lot more good will extended to them to iron out the bugs and exploits.

They then could have released little $10 expansion packs every couple months, With larger $50 expansions every year or two.

As a DC fanboy this fail of a game cut deep for me.

Know what I thought when I saw DCUO the first time? That someone walked in the room and told the devs "You have 6 months instead of a year to launch the game". They openly admitted that the PS3 UI did not work and they were still trying to figure it out 3 months after release. Its soooo wierd the stuff they launched with. 3 more months of closed dev time and they could have been where they are today.

And now that I see this reboot stuff, I wonder if it caused them to launch the game early. Had they waited another 6 months, all the content they had would have been made useless cause that world is going away.

I completely agree.

Even in SOE's classic 'being SOE' there are still a lot of things of worth and quality in the game... one can only imagine how it may have ended up in a better developer's hands.

You notice he never gave a straight answer to whether he has played the game since launch. hehe

Wouldn't mind getting back into the game, but with CoH going ftp, and Champions already doing so, don't think its going to happen.

@Pojoh

hes got no time to play since launch.

DC is rebooting the entire universe and Jim is in charge of the character design for all of them.

hes single handedly in charge of this. and its the biggest reboot in comics history.

theres just no way hes going to have time for gaming for any time in the forseeable future.

@cerebrix I think you may be dramatically overestimating the man's work ethic.

Which isn't to insult him at all. I don't actually consider being obsessed with your work to the exclusion of all else to be a virtue in the least.

I also wonder if you were even alive for the original COIE, back in the early 80s.

Dude, follow him on twitter. He's traveling most of the time. He's also drawing a lot. He will tweet to early mornings on stuff he's working on to hit a deadline. And add in all the business meetings, promoting a MMO and DC comics...not a whole lot of time...

Not to mention he's married, has 2 kids and is expecting another kid in a couple months. At what time does he have to play?

@StClair i bought it when it came out. 4th or 5th grade.

embarrassingly enough, i was a raging firestorm fan back then.

i was convinced he could kill superman instantly by changing his costume into kryptonite.

Heheheeh he said "so right off the bat"

But in all seriousness how many times has Wayne died already?

Steve Rodges has also died once long before bucky took up the mantle (or so one would think). Granted, this new development was because Steve needed a break to rest his, and he was still alive.

And then there's Peter Parker, I think he's one of the few big-shot Marvel heroes that HASN'T died.

I'm not %100 sure but I'm pretty certain that Spidey has technically "died" at least twice in the comics. If not died and been brought back but has been on the edge of death etc...

@Skyydragonn Well, I know he "made a deal with the devil" or some such and forgot he was married at one point. Something that was brought up in randomguy's videos. Not exactly the safest thing to do.

I wonder if he's really proud of this game, or just stuck with making the best of a bad situation at this point.

This is why properties and celebs don't like to sign onto ventures and give their names out.

When they go flat, it's one of the things they get remembered for.

He's part of the problem. DC has SOE soe tied up they can't even put the Green Lantern logo w/o strict color restrictions. Want to know why you can't have green fire? Cause Fire has green fire and green fire is cannon. I hate IP's.

I'm sorry but no.

SoE isn't tied up by DC, SoE is tied up by their own fkin greed and laziness.

I think the "need" to make all future SOE games playable on the PS3 will end up destroying SOE (or at least their games).

@(Unverified) they said that? If that's true, then yea i agree 100%. Making a broad rule that all of their games will play on ps3 will come back to haunt them in one way or another.
