Here at Massively we get dozens of game-related press releases on an hourly basis. Rarely, though, does a blurb say something like "players build aircraft carriers to navigate the stars and Milky Way to explore and learn of ancient civilizations."
The release for YooGames' new browser-based MMO Planet War said just that, and as a result we're keen on taking a look at the title's closed beta when it kicks off on August 9th. YooGames also says that Planet War is inspired by famous sci-fi novels and heroes, and aims to provide a unique strategy experience that features both conquest and alien foreign policy. We're not sure what that means as of yet, but it definitely piqued our interest. You can learn more about the game at its official web site as well as the Planet War Facebook portal.

I was actually somewhat interested, but the Engrish all over the official site is a bit worrisome and off-putting.

The English on that site is atrocious. And not in a charming "at least they're trying" sort of way. Atrocious in a "we can't be bothered paying a few college students to translate this for us so we'll just put this into the Google translator and hope for the best" sort of way.

In keeping with standard Asian game development, their screenshots and ads include blatant copyright infringement -- a Babylon 5 Starfury and the Trade Federation droid control ship from Star Wars. I can't imagine a universe in which George Lucas' lawyers don't nuke the site from orbit.
Their forum FAQ is also very entertaining:
"Assembly plant---- Commodlty,Money is also players another way. Develop science and technology will need money, to later period the need for money will be more and more big. Repair warships and the plane is also need the money, so the players don't forget upgrade research center."
