How is FFXIV nowadays? Is it finally worth trying after the premature launch and early mayhem?

@Crsh Some one will say it's to grind focused now. Some will say it's to solo focused, and some will say its all about the instances. I say it's fun. A lot has changed since launch; go give it a try it's still free.

I went back about a month ago in order to give it another chance.

Still borderline dentist appointment enjoyable.

Imreally really want to like this game and usually have good things to say about any MMO.

@Scorpio707

You need to buy the box, though there's no subscription fee at the moment. I think you still need a credit card to subscribe even if they don't charge you. I could be wrong on that last part.

I'm having a great time in Eorzea right now. My server is really active as well.

Go to Besaid if you want to check the game out! Lots of English speakers on there as well!

Don't buy this game, it's still a train wreck. SE is basicly trying to remake this game on a broken chasis in order to sell the PS3 verision. It's a insult to gamer, and at the end of the day can't be fixed due to the structure of the world and questing.

Boycott SE products

Gee, another boycott post from you. When was the last time you played? What do you mean structure of the world and questing? What did you think of the Grand Companies content? Constructive criticism is fine but you have none. You might have a leg to stand on if you focus your hate on the game as it launched; I think we can all agree that it was bad but to come to these articles and say the game is still a train wreck when you have no idea makes you look like a fool. Happen to check out that troll article this week?

Patch 1.18 was a game changer, and I have really enjoyed my time in game, and so has the many other players who are still playing.

If you have the game already, just update and play, if you haven't gotten the game yet, I would vote to wait until patch 1.19 or patch 1.20 (which should be around the one year anniversary) they are introducing many things that are very exciting.

You can pick up the game around $15 at gamestop, so it's not that exp to get into the game. FFXIV has come a long way, and I have a feeling that by it's on year anniversary it will be ready.

I alpha & beta tested FFXIV. I thought SE and the dev team would put their ducks in a row for release. Like many of you I was let down. I tried to stick it out through the updates and just couldn't handle it. I left the game around January or February.

I kept a close eye on the forums and the updates knowing this game has potential.
Like Brin Z. said: "1.18 is a game changer. "

Auto attack streamlines the battle experience, the auto attack may be slow, but you stay active during combat with your cool down skills, you just don't have to worry about smashing "1" to gain TP to use your stronger attack. I start a fight with an auto attack and can almost immediatly follow with a WS, if not then there are "NOW" TP gen attacks which I then use a WS mobs @ my level or slightly above are then nearly @ 50% or less HP and I still have TP to spare. Fights are fast and not tedious like before.

Grand Companies introduce progressive content to take part in. While 1.18 is just the introduction of this system. The feeling of something great is there.

next major update 1.19 will bring the sorely missing mount (Chocobo) and airship travel systems. No longer will you be taking those 20-30 min. hikes across the realm.

119 also will bring about crafting and recipe changes, streamlining the process. and with that atribute adjustments will be shown when eating food and being under buffs. food items will also have a tool tip of what benefits it gives)

1.20 will be the long awaited new Job system (classes advance to become specialized jobs) and an item enhancing "Materia" crafting system. Gear will have slots which materia (thats crafted) can be slotted for extra buffs.

Thats whats coming by the end of september. It'll be a happy 1 year anniversary for FFXIV.

I was unable to recommend this game to friends prior to 1.18, but I'm having fun with it now. It reminds me of when i first started FFXI during NA pc launch.

If you don't have the game now, wait until september when 1.20 lands There will be a lot for you to experience and keep you busy by then.

is there some place that I can get this game on the cheap? Say $15 or less. I'm curious, but not $30+ USD curious.
