@JohnLane

I have a great idea.

You know where you could look for guilds like that, i.e. ones that relate to TOR and have a forum presence?

The ***TOR FORUMS****!

@JohnLane seriously? Stop making these posts about "teh swotors" It isn't funny. It's just lame.

I thought this place was better than this. It's sorta why i still come here everyday. Because I know I wont have to read trash like this - repeatedly. This looks like Global Agenda city chat ..and if you play GA - YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN. GA city chat is like barrens chat on steroids. Why Hirez allows that, i have no idea, but i am pretty sure this sort of stuff is frowned upon around here.

as to the article : "The one thing that remains the same, though, is that only a small percentage of players actually participate in the endgame. At times, raid content has been made more accessible, but very few players and guilds actually complete all raid content from each game update."
I agree with the last part, but at least as far as WoW is concerned -and lets face it, we're pretty much talking about WoW and its children here - I find that quite a large percentage of the playerbase has done at least some endgame raiding content. Maybe not hard mode - newest/bestest/shiniest, but in a patch or 2, they will catch up. It is rare to see a level capped player walking around in town without at least some raid gear drops. But if by "endgame", you mean the most recent patch, final boss dead - then yea, few are at that level.

Excellent read. Hope you're right about the direction of raids in the future.

@JohnLane You can check out my guild at www.obscurilateris.com

As a guild leader I really appreciated this article. I am also reading a book on guild leadership that ties in directly to what you wrote about.

Nice article. Still since devs began this foolish mechanic it is the devs that will need to stop it, raiding is a cheap thoughtless way to handle the masses, instead of live events raiding is the cruise control of MMO gaming, why gamers havent risen up and slain the creators of raiding i will never understand. @Graill440 i agree

its said that the vast majority of raidnig is done in instances i too miss the live events and more so the unannounced ones. I would even like a few open world dungeons to return just for something different.
hell even maplestory (yes , i said it, and i actually played it a while ago) had times when epic creatures would just run around everywhere killing people and the higher levels had to band together to try and stop it, it was even inside shops meaning no safe places.

mmo's are hitting a time of mid life crisis, they need to buy that porsche and start shaking shit up again

*shrug* easier said than done.

And "rise up" against what? Raiding isn't broken, it's the lack of any content outside of the standard dailies-rep grind-dungeons-raids that is what's broken.

@Resurge

I agree Resurge, I love coming to massively as its kind of where the sophisticated, and rational, MMORPG player goes. That is not universally true, but it is way better here than other sites. However, I think English might not be John Lane's native language. At least I have seen others say that it isn't.

I use to raid in WoW quite a bit, but I kind of lost the desire for that type of content. I think it's mostly because I like to play when I have time to play, not when I am expected to play. The more variety developers can give players to do at max level, the better.
