I guess it depends on your definition of "grindy". I didn't think the quests were all that excessive (just quit a game that at level 21 asked me to kill 70 mobs for a quest) but the combat is very slow. Mobs had a lot of hitpoints already and a few patches ago they doubled it. So it does take a lot of combat to kill them and Allods does not have auto-attack.

An exceptional game, though. Very high production quality.

@Pingles

It is not necessarily grindy, but the lvling is slow. I mean there are a lot of quests. But it takes forever to lvl char.

I mean I nvr felt that auto-attack is that important when i played other mmo, but man it sure felt like killing things is slower.... In fact i wondering why do they even have basic atk in allods sinc eyou are using energy anyways....

But the game is a solid game. It has everything that you need in a mmo and they do them pretty well. Cashshop is also a lot better than before.

None of the things mentioned in the article were shown in the trailer as far as I could tell, at least not highlighted or in any way shown as a new feature. It just seemed like a generic 'random stuff' colleciton of bits and pieces.

Reincarnation system sounds kinda fun.. brings me back to my MUD days when certain MUDs would let you remort your character after hitting max level. Might pick up Allods again..

*big sigh* Oh gPotato....I wish you'd take a que from Perfect World and rid your games of all the horrid anti-cheat-but-doesn't-work-anyways-and-just-hurts-the non cheating-end user software.

I want to give this game a try. :-/

rule of thumb #1:

when a game advertises "X number of registered players" then are quiet like a cementary about their "active player" figures.....run for your life

@Fabius Bile Astrum Nival claims they have almost 100k active players, and that's for Russian servers and not US/Eu. Go figure, but do keep running if you like.

EU servers are dead, just so you know.

Not to mention, we can now site from an article a few ahead of this one, that only one out of every three are using their cash shop. A 3rd of 3.5 million doesn't sound as impressive. And that's not including what amount of real cash they are using to purchase stuff.

@sjet

The EU servers were barren and the russian servers suffered a huge population drop after the first absurd patches that screwed the game. I remember when I was playing to see a huge influx of russian players running away to the european version of the game because of the patches being implemented in Russia.
Then those patches were implemented in Europe and the US with even more outrageous prices and the game tanked.

Having 3,5 million registered players doesn't mean anything. I have serious doubts that they have even 500k active accounts on US,Europe and Russia. And if we agree with the trend of only one third of the players buying virtual goods then they aren't making as much money as they could be doing if they hadn't f*cked their game.

Ah so now after investing thousands of dollars on their crazy cash shop, after strugling through their "nerf player damage by x2, buff mob hp x3" patches, after going through the FOD [or whatever it was replaced with] crap... i should reincarnate and do it all AGAIN.

Haha!

So glad i never touched that game lol.

"So glad i never touched that game lol."

So what you're saying is you never actually experienced any of the things you are crying about? How much did you pay for those 1st class seats on the band wagon...

For what it's worth, IMO damage needed to be nerfed, and MOB damage needed to be increased. Combat does not always need to end with you being victorious in 10 seconds or less.

Yeah, reincarnation sounds about as much fun as a trip to the dentist's office.

Kicked this one off my hard drive recently. At level 11 the grind just got to me. You spend what seems like forever in one zone, with nothing but open PvP to look forward to in the upper zones. It's a shame as the visuals of the game are fantastic.

Forcing us to make an alt to keep on with our character progression isn't the kind of content addition I'd love to see.
