@LA1111

I'm with you. I will start downloading the patch as soon as I get home.

Cross Server LFG brings back fond memories of Wrath. I am so glad we have Trion's Rift. I am having fun playing this game and this patch will take my experience to a whole new level. Go Trion!!!

Like you said, great for the Raider & PvP crowd, but how about a Crafting revamp, or Housing? Oh that's right, no one really cares about those things...

I would love to see the focus of RIFT become a little broader. With the development muscle they have this could be "the" game for many more people.

I am impressed with the regular updates, and live events, and hope they continue to impress in those regards. That being said, it's still not enough to get my money out of my pocket.

@Ren54

Agreed about the crafting part (although I don't think it's so much the fact tat crafting gives raid-level gear, more that crafting in many games is exceedingly easy, thus it's seen as cheating the system rather than providing an alternative. Well, that's how I see it anyway.)

I wouldn't say housing is niche. A lot of people want it, probably moreso than people who want -insert random feature X-. Besides, if housing is very flexible but not super functional then you'll still have people in cities, housing will just have some extra tools or eye candy.

1.4's new crafting updates has me very happy. suddenly have an urgency to level a new apothecary

I'm still waiting for housing too, but not sure how they'd do this - perhaps via a sliver?

They added crafting rifts in the previous update and in this one they also added some improvements. Instead of bitching based on an incomplete analysis of all the features of patch 1.4 written by a Massively blogger why won't you go read the patch notes?

I think it'd take divine intervention in the form of a 9/10 review from the heavens themselves to dissuade most of the rift hate I've seen from the massively comments sections.

Faster ques and a dizzying array of changes to crafting have me excited to log on next.

When I read "PvP Rifts" I immediately thought that these would be rifts that opened in enemy territory and allowed members of the opposing faction to port through.

There goes me and my crazy ideas :(

@LeChatNoir

Like Aion's rifts?

Anyway, I'm wondering if these pvp rifts will work or will they be pretty much ignored.

Boy is Trion moving fast with the updates, I'm still not even lv50 on my first character (ok so I'm a slowpoke); keep it up!

Try the Saga of the Endless and let me know if you're still excited to do another "epic" quest line ...

I definitely think Rift was worth the box price, but the story was generic and I don't particularly remember anything standing out. The only zone I didn't clear of quests was Shimmer.

Defiant guide if you need a hand:
http://www.unseenagent.net/guides/quest-chains/saga-of-the-endless

I know Endless is relatively old content now and maybe Trion will have improved the experience to be less of a generic slog. Trion did a lot of things right, but the game always made me think for every step it took forward, it took two back.

I thought the Saga of the Aelfwar was pretty good. Sure, parts of it took a full group to accomplish but it was at least pretty interesting. The only annoying part was fixed early on when they allowed you to summon the two rift bosses with lures

@eyeball2452

still doing my saga questline and to be honest I thought it's great, the parts mixing between solo, group, or raid is a bit constraining for people that don't raid though.

I think that's why this new saga was created - you need to have solo and 5-men group content but no more.

Man, a 946.8 MB patch. Not used to seeing patches that big 'cept 'round expansion time. :)

I can just imagine *slips into a dream-like state gazing off into the distance*.....

I love this game, sure some of the quests are generic... but with as many MMOs as are on the market it wouldn't be possible to avoid that. There are some amazing sites in Telara, and the artifact hunting makes it so that you see them all.

I played WoW for 6 years and the only time I explored at all was when I wanted the explorer achievement, and then I saw nothing even close to memorable, but in 3 months of playing Rift I have explored much of the world and have many favorite places in each zone.

The Rift haters are your typical "nothing makes me happy except getting attention" crowd. They only hate on it because others love it, and only say it sucks because they haven't actually played it.

Still really happy with what Trion is doing with Rifts. Having played pretty much every one of the better known fantasy MMOs over the years, I personally feel Rift is has the most to offer.

This patch is...epic. It truly is, and this article only touched on half of what it brings. We also have changes to crafting for apothecary, I'm currently leveling a character with that profession, so this is awesome.

Scarwood reach has had a graphical makeover, prestige ranks 7 and 8 unlocked, as well as new gear and new/better ways to earn gear with favor and Marks.

Quality of life adjustments with the quest log and quest items.

I am so happy I decided to resub after about a month or 2 break from leveling a mage from launch. The game feels smoother now, I know how to pace myself so I don't burnout, I'm enjoying rogue more than mage, personally and am finally having fun with PVP in an MMORPG. I've NEVER had that, even with PVP in WoW. I always felt like I had no chance, but with gear and prestige ranks being a fun persuit and doable in a balanced frame of time, this game is starting to trump WoW in terms of PVP.

Anyway, I'm on the Byriel server, name is Blazerunner, Guardian side and my guild rocks and we're having a blast. So come join me or come fight me, hehe in the new content.
