I'm hoping its States. Pro: he'll be dead. Con: that means I can't punch him in the face. ;)

@j1083 They can't kill Statesman. That'd be like DC killing Superman or Marvel killing Captain America! Never gonna happen!

Um, you do know they killed both Superman and Captain America, right? Not permanently, but still.

Even if it wasn't permanent I'd totally pay to see Statesman bite the big one.

@Ghostspeaker Lol, yes, they kind of *have* both killed those characters.

Additionally, just so it doesn't seem like I'm being purely malicious, the reason I'd love to see States bite it is very similar to the reasoning Eliot poses: back when I was first playing City of Heroes Statesman was explicitly Emmert's Marty Stu/God Mode/Author Avatar... even his posting identity.

As someone who feels that the departure of Jack and his design philosophy was only to CoH's good, I'd really get a tickle out of them putting his character on ice. I guess that still sounds pretty mean-spirited, but what can you do?

This. So much this. Kill off Jack's Marty Stu already. Not that it would solve the problem, but at least it would be one less Cole in the universe. Then we'd just have to deal with Tyrant, Reichsman and Impervious.

But, it will probably be Back Alley Brawler. Shame. Not just because of the developer behind the name's forum presence, but the character is genuinely likable.

I agree for the most part.

Back Alley Brawler is, in my opinion, the most likely candidate. This is due to the simple fact that when CoH Freedom launches, Galaxy City is getting trashed, and he won't have a job as a trainer NPC anymore. He's also one of the older heroes, having been fighting crime since the 70s (but unlike Statesman, he ages), so there's that whole "Let the old warrior go out with a bang" trope.

Citadel is unlikely, because he's a robot. And killing a robot is kind meh.

Galaxy City being destroyed makes me inclined to agree about BAB, though given Chris Bruce got 'let go' it's a bit meta-gamey to kill off his red name as well. Although by that logic Statesman would have been dead years ago...

If it is one of the big 4 it should by Psyche. Her costume's lousy and it would give Manticore an excuse to 'go rogue' and go full on vigilante. Remember he did show up in the original Going Rogue announcement trailer, which led to much wild speculation that he would be a signature side switching character. God knows they deserve better than Maelstrom.

I agree that BAB is the most likely candidate.

His death would have the least impact. He is just a trainer, has no taskforce and is currently standing in a place that will soon no longer exist as we know it.

Statesman ... no way, unless you want to introduce cyborg Statesman, black Statesman, clone Statesman and vigilante Statesman :)
Then again, this could lead to the reformation of Lord Recluse, who in the wake of the death of his childhood buddy would rise to take Statesmans' place and unite heroes and villains against the extra-dimensional threath of Marcus Cole ... nope, not really.

The other six ... well, they have sidekicks who could take over their taskforce duties, but I doubt it. Besides, Numina is already kinda dead.

I'm guessing Synapse. He hasn't really done much of anything in the backstory, and while he's been my favorite Signaturenever since the second novel, the fact is that very few would miss him...making him a "safe" sacrifice like DC killing off the Atom or Mr. Miracle or someone.

Listening to some of the Art threads on the forums it's quite possible Sister Psyche might get a costume reboot.

I agree with those that say it will be BABs. The other seven have Task Forces and the zone BAB is a trainer in is going away. I can see them offing one of the other 7 and replacing them with BAB. It would require rewriting the TF.

Although they could pull a "Statesman". Statesman wasn't in the game until the STF, the only time he appeared was during the Maria Jenkins arc where you went to "Rescue" him from Tyrant. So it could be possible they off one of the other 7 and leave the Task Force intact.

Guaranteed not to be Sister Psyche. You need to be able to put boobs in your ads. Take note the latest artwork where she is wearing even less than before. I didn't know that was possible, but I like it.

Statesman needs to be it. Anyone else dies, it's a non-story. Statesman, the face of City of Heroes for the last seven years dies, it's as big a story as you can get. Nothing else comes close.

@Daemodand It can't be Statesman. He has one of the toughest Task Forces in the game.

If we could vote on it, Statesman would be my choice. The game only got better after he left and see what fine work he has done with Champions and Star Trek Online...

I'd be ok with Statesy dying -- but ONLY if we don't have to deal with any sort of resurrection or rebirth story.

Not to mention Emmert's forum and ingame was Statesman.....

Manti is like Batman+Green arrow yes, but does that mean Iron Man is Batman+Deadpool or something?

Knowing Marvel they would kill Pym and his wife anyway wouldn't they? I mean come on, this is MARVEL we're talking about, they kill off major characters on a regular basis do they not?

Squirrel Girl and Deadpool aside because Squirrel Girl is a Mary Sue(Only GLA who DIDN'T die btw) and Deadpool's powers pretty much mean he CAN'T die. (Also he's a total gary stu).
