The one thing I wish had been further developed in Guild Wars was the pre-searing saga of Gwen. You could get a quest item (tapestry shred), but it was never used for anything and I would have liked that story-line developed a bit further.

The Blood of the Black Stream storyline/epic archetype in City of Heroes/Villains.

It was added to the player's origin writeup for the CCG when he won the "You're a Hero!" contest. It's also mentioned once in a Villain story arc. Castle, as of May 2010, has even mentioned it's been kicked around the office more than once. But no one's really willing to invest the time needed to turn them into reality.

@Shirogetsune

I've always wondered about that one as well. I remember when Statesman (most likely prematurely) mentioned Avilans, Incarnates, Blood of the Black Stream and the Coralax. The Coralax turned into an enemy group. Incarnates has actually found the light of day and turned into a gameplay feature. Still makes you wonder about Avilans and Blood of the Black Stream. Of course the latter one reminds me of the Big Trouble in Little China quote about the Black Blood of the Earth.

That swirling portal in Stormwind with the huge gate in front of it.

FFXI's closed doors in the cities. Drove me nuts that you couldn't go in all of them.

The "grey" areas on the outskirts of the Rift map. Especially when some quests actually send you into that grey area and it still stays grey! Like in Shimmersand.

That portal was the entrance to the Stormwind Vaults instance before development on it was abandoned.

Is the portal still there after Cata?

I'm not sure. I didn't really go look for it after Cata and I haven't played as much, WoW burn out and all that. Been enjoying Rift and waiting on SWTOR more than anything.

-- Agreed. I wanted to see the Dark Elf city since the first time I heard about the online video game.

Yes! I've said here before that I really enjoyed WAR's PvE High Elf storyline -- but I kept wondering what it would've been like if /more/ of the game world had been fleshed out.

At the time it was intriguing to read about people's search for NPC's in WoW that you can only see when you're dead. Aside from the ones most knew about, people speculated there were more hidden. Forum moderators didn't help as they were vague about it all, hinting at such possibilities. I did come to realize that if there were any more of them they'd have been datamined so that takes the mystery out of it.

EVE's Factional Warfare.

That feature has the potential to be any role-player's dream. A shame CCP only seems to care about 0.0 and sovereignty wars.
