This week's Darkfall blog update is a short one, and basically pays a bit of lip service to the siege system that's still in progress (and that Aventurine hopes to have in final testing next week). As for the screenshots, they feature some closeups of the new "intricate leather armor" that took a bow in Thursday's short video release. The set is a bit of a departure from the game's grungy medieval aesthetic, with clean lines and some appealing sleekness but for the giant spikes protruding from the helmet and and limbs. Head past the cut to get a look at the video.

Aventurine snuck in a couple of quick Darkfall updates while we weren't looking, and though there's still no definitive word on Darkfall 2.0, there is an armor video and some nifty screenshots to sort of make up for it.

So have they even announced what Darkfall 2.0 is or when its coming out? Is it a new game or a really big patch?

As far as a timeline anything that is said you can basically be sure that is not the date it will be released.
What they said it would be though is a complete rebalancing of the game along with things to make all forms of gameplay viable and not just the mashup of all skills. They're also throwing in changes to the way sieges work, overhauls on all player and npc cities, changing the mob spawn locations and updating player models.
That's just a fraction of what they're probably going to do though, it looks exciting. As far as a wipe goes nothing definitive has been said but even if they did wipe the vets would still have a strong advantage just because they know the system so well.

Looks cool, is leather or any armor other than plate still useless though?

God, that After Effects particle tutorial gets around, huh? Using it on the outro like that feels pretty cheap.
My guess is that it'll be a huge patch that overhauls the game to a point where it's almost like a new game, but not quite. If that makes sense.

Patches that radically overhaul all game and combat systems have a huge history of success in the MMO sphere.

Looks a tad Rift like, (and rift sort of shared the same art as everquest) Not downing it, between the art and PVP not my cup of tea.

They might have been better off letting their players (beta type server, and a contest of some kind?) do these videos. I suspect the players would have themselves come up with something better (because well... they couldn't really have done worse).
